I stopped in about 45 minutes prior to the restaurant closing for the evening. I asked if I was too late to get a meal and was immediately brought to a seat in the otherwise empty dining area. I think that there were a few people in the bar area, but I did not look to verify. It is worth noting that I was not asked upon entering if I would be okay with being seated at the bar, which is something I quietly object to being asked since I never prefer it. While light pop music from what I would guess to be the 1960s to the 1980s played a backdrop (a tastefully arranged mix), a well put together and attractive waitress came to get my order. My service was not in any way lessened by the fact that I ordered a water with lemon. I have been to a number of places that if you do not order a pay drink (preferably alcoholic) they treat you differently than if you had. Instead, I received excellent service from the waitress attending my booth from the time I was seated until the moment that I left (as perhaps the last customer of the night). When I put in my order (a 12 ounce prime rib, "Voodoo Style"), I was almost immediately brought a wonderful salad prepared better than I anticipated. The server then apologized upon her return that the croissants were not ready (I had no idea that they were supposed to bring me any) and took my now empty salad bowl. Just minutes later she returned with two fresh, hot croissants that were lightly drizzled with what I believe was a white sugar glaze with cinnamon in it. She again apologized for the wait and mentioned the fact there were two, as I think she was only supposed to bring me one. They were expertly prepared, wonderfully flaky and yet not dried out. I had only just finished those as the main course came out, and what a meal it was. I despise taking pictures of food that I have not personally cooked and plated, but I was very tempted to do so multiple times in this meal. The first portion of the prime rib was perhaps the best I have had in my life. It was simply incredible. As I ate my way through the full 12 ounces I found that it transitioned from completely amazing prime rib and into what was more like a very nice tender steak. It was not the melt in your mouth, no resistance to cutting or chewing offered prime rib that I expect through to the end. That said, had I ordered a sirloin like this I would not have complained a bit! The items keeping me from writing a full five stars are as follows - The prime rib transitioned away from expectation from one end to the other. The main course, while amazing in flavor, could have used something minor to add to the overall appeal of it. Just a touch of wild rice, some sprigs of greenery at the edge of the plate, nothing too wild. It would feel more "complete" that way. Some of the staff were getting a little louder as they knew full well the restaurant was closing very soon. My server was nothing short of exceptionally professional, but a few of her coworkers seemed to be having trouble keeping the line between front and back of house. Overall, I would suggest that anyone in the area give the Copper River Grill a try. I cannot say that my experience was not influenced by the lack of other customer activity, as I have no basis for comparison. That said, I cannot imagine that an establishment that is able to get things that right could do too much wrong, even under the most pressing crowds. For those wondering, my meal cost less than $30 after taxes. I left a tip that I felt was appropriate, but that is not included in the...
Read moreWe were in town for a concert at Wahalla the folliwing day and it was a Sunday night and the restaurants we hoped to go to were closed. So Copper River seemed our best option. Despite a bad first impression based on outdated and not so clean looking menus the food was very good. So pleased! So many things to choose from which always makes me a little leary. It took me forever to decide what to order because I was hungry. We ordered a make your own pizza and it was perfect. Later we shared a seafood plate of flounder and shrimp and was very pleased with that too. We shared a salad too which I thought was yummy.
Unfortunately it was not a great over all experience. The server seemed so indifferent and maybe angry. After a glass of so so chardnarry, I switched to a beer and it over flowed all iver the table and I lost over half of it. After we cleaned up the mess our waitress replaced it. My husbands second beer did the same thing but only lost about 1/3. She never offered to replace his. When mine overflowed she never apologized but did tell me I poured my beer in my glass too fast, which I didn't. The other issue is I felt misled about what was included with the seafood entree. We ordered the fish and salad to go with it. When she asked what side item we wanted I thought I that meant it was included so we finally settled on was the Broccolini but what was on our plate was brocolli instead. I was perturbed to see we were charged for the salad. It seems you get one or the other not both salad and a side dish. 🙄
I would go back because I liked the food very much and the wait person could have been having a bad day which happens...
Read moreMy family and I went to Copper river in Seneca for Mother's Day dinner on Saturday, because my husband had to go out of town Sunday. There were about 10 of us at the table. I ordered the prime rib, medium rare with creamed spinach because the server suggested it. When the food came out, I didnt notice right away that I was the only one without food. I noticed, got the server's attention and asked if my food was almost ready. She replied with a surprised look and said she would check. She came back holding my plate, put it on the table in front of me, and left. It looked old. I touched the prime rib, and it was cold. We got the attention of the server again and told her. She took the plate. The manager came back a while later holding the plate. Mind you, everyone else at my table was finished eating their food by this time. My medium rare prime rib was brown. I cut into it, and it was brown all the way through. The manager (who was wearing a tank top while serving food-gross!), said they didnt re-cook it, and that the aju made it look brown. Well, let me tell you, medium rare prime rib wouldnt be brown IN THE MIDDLE because of aju poured on the outside. Period. At that point, I gave up, asked her to take the prime rib back, and asked for my bill. We all sat for 30 minutes waiting for our bills to arrive at the table. We finally left, and I stopped by Wendy's on my way home and got a burger. Thanks Copper River for making an already difficult Mother's day (my mother passed away in January of this year, and Copper River (the Easley location) was our favorite restaurant to celebrate at), even...
