This sounded promising......however, I was pretty disappointed. First of all, when a place calls itself a "Craft Brew" place of business, I would expect more than 6 taps (including your AB products). There are a good number of bottled brews available, but these are priced really high. Our waitress had no clue about any of the beer; I used my Untapped app to find a description of the unfamiliar bottles. The Club Sandwich sounded delicious. Wow - not what I expected given the price and the description. The "meat" was sliced way too thin and was not a good quality product - tasteless. Kind of like you would find in a celophane wrapper pre-sliced and packaged in a discount grocer. I couldn't eat it. When I told the waitress that I did not like it and why, she said "I don't blame you, I don't eat that sandwich." Eventually the manager (I think?) came over and said they are revamping their menu and products used. They did take the sandwich off our bill. BUT the Chicken Tenders meal my husband got included HUGE pieces of chicken - moist and very nicely seasoned.
The place has a lot of potential and since I don't live in the area, I have no idea if this was an isolated incident or if it's always that way. Good luck to the owners; I hope you take reviews into consideration when looking for...
Read moreWent there last week with a big party (about 15 people). They took us upstairs and the atmosphere was more quite than a funeral home. Then we got our orders: The Ultimate Nachos was very good! (that's the only reason I give the star), but then I ordered a Shrimp Alfredo: The plate costs almost $15 dollars and got just 6 pieces of overcooked shrimp. It tasted like rubber, the Alfredo sauce did not have a taste at all, and wasn't creamy like it should be. My other friend got a order that included a baked potato and it was cold when they served it, so she didn't even eat it all. After we were done eating we were trying to relax, and have a nice conversation, but I noticed first that the music volume was lower, and the server "gently" all at once brought our Checks like in a subliminal message she was trying to kicking us out from there. On the top of it, she handed the tickets without a checkbook, so the smart one had to grab 2 by 2 checks with the money and walked a marathon going back and forward to the register, and still got confused when handed back the receipts. I don't recommend this place, only the nachos I guess, but the food, the service, the atmosphere is too poor for all those overpriced meals. Even the menu was only a poor piece of black and white cheap copy......
Read moreDear Rails,
From one restauranteur to another, thank you for the outstanding service, food, and hospitality. After spending a month in your fine city for work, I can honestly say Rails was my favorite local place to dine. Your staff is very caring and spends a lot of time talking to customers. They pay attention to detail and offer up great dishes and brews.
Speaking of dishes, I enjoyed the food at Rails - the Chicken and Waffles (WOW!), Boom Boom Shrimp Wrap (So YUMMY!), Wings (HUGE!), Nachos (VERY Large Portions!), and yes, even burgers. I’m very critical of burgers, as you can imagine, but Rails did an excellent job crafting their burgers. In fact, I believe you can take it to the next level with a bit of creativity. I don’t say that often, so kudos to your staff and GM. Job well done.
In closing, I want to say thank you for making me feel at home. You guys were great.
Sincerely,
Neil, owner KirbyG’s Diner 2018 World Burger Champ
PS. Shot this sunset on my last night in the Heartland. Funny thing. I was looking down the rails in front of Rails (the eatery) in the City known for the guy who sings about “kids growing up in the heartland.” How fitting for a wonderful time at your establishment.
