On the Rox — Restaurant in Seymour

On the Rox was an interesting experience, not quite anything I expected. Maybe the fact that I'm not from around this area contributed to my opinion, but it just seemed slightly odd.

You'd have to be looking for this bar to find it. It's sightly off the main road, not well advertised, and the parking lot isn't lit or very accommodating.

Entering the bar, I paid a $5 cover. Odd, as it wasn't a club, and didn't seem to have anything special going on.

Bartender was busy and wasn't really able to be attentive it seemed. All the bartenders smoked and drank while working, which I find highly distasteful. They weren't particularly friendly, but they were efficient.

The bar was loud, and got to the point that I left as soon as they brought in live music. I couldn't hear my friends sitting a foot away from me. The bar area, and the entire dining area, wasn't very large.

They wouldn't serve a Three Wisemen or Four Horsemen, which disappointed me; however, they did provide the drinks for me to mix it myself. The BBQ pork sandwich and appetizer sampler I got were OK, but nothing to write home about.

There was, what appeared to be, a team playing darts nearby. They had several pool tables and electronic dartboards in the main bar.

All in all, likely one of the better bars in the area, but I wasn't enthralled by the experience. Good for just a...

Don't make that mistake. We drove a half hour to check this place out and it was not what I expected after reading about it online. This place is not very big at all. In fact one of our friends walked around the small bar trying to find the rest of it. We came to do trivia, as it said they had it at that time online, but no trivia was taking place. We sat at a table to eat dinner and were never acknowledged. Finally after waiting 20 minutes feeling VERY unwelcome and out of place because we weren't regulars we left. Listen to live music on the patio and ate a grilled chicken salad it was pretty good...
