Mac's Diner is a Icon in the local area of Shady Cove. Right next to the river, beautiful views. By the looks of it, the restaurant has been here for years. Very old and dated. My first and last impressions of this place, it needs an overhaul starting with with its stressed out staff to the food!!!. We were a party of 10 and it was Friday night and its "Prime Rib night". If you are going to specialize in such a particular item, you better have your "A game on"!!! Five out of the ten of us ordered the Prime rib and one ordered the Ribeye steak. The rest of our group had ordered other items, like Chicken Fried Steak, shrimp baskets, etc. The first plate of Prime Rib came out literally walking dark red and not cooked, second plate just a less walking and mine was mooing. The waitstaff took mine order back to fix it and came back 3 minutes later where they had placed my prime rib on the skillet to turn it brown to disguise it more done. When it came back it was so nasty and gross looking, I had to pass. The mash potatoes were cold stiff and dried out, as they must be sitting in a warming station waiting for an order. The green beans were just okay. The Ribeye steak was raw as well. Med or Med Rare prime rib or Ribeye steak should be 125 to 135 degrees, to be a nice medium rare steak. When meat is less than than 125 degrees then that request would be Rare. All of our Prime Rib plates was EXTREMLY RAW RARE slabs of meat walking. When the steak knife cant cut the meat on your dinner plate you know your in trouble. Eight out of 10 people took doggie bags home. Meat is so expensive these days, and if you cant cook food correctly then don't offer the item. I am sure since no one left this raw meat feast on the table the chief has no clue. There was nothing about this dinner experience I would give high marks for. This is gross disgusting error is all on the staff in the kitchen. Get your act together. we will...
Read moreA group of us went to Mac' s for lunch 12:30 on Tuesday August 20, I called several times to let them know 10-12 people were coming NO ONE ANSWER THE PHONE! We meet there anyway we figured if the were closed we go to Miguel's. They were open, as we came in the one person who wore no name tag or told us her name said she was the only one there. And she doesn't answer the phone. She told us it would be a minute for her to set up tables for us we understand. So we were seated and we waited way to long to get a drink order taken , when our drinks came she didn't bring the one person drink. Her drink that was water easy order you would think. She left and we waited for her to take our food order way to long we were discussing paying for our drinks and leaving this was around 1:30 . She took our order and a few of us were ordering beef dips well you guessed it we were told that that did not get prepped to cook and to choose something else. A customer I guess brought there very large dog through the restaurant to the back patio were the dog lifted his leg and peed on the tree stump by the door ! Health code We got our food a half hour later it was okay but nothing like it was before the new owner. We left at 2:30 no receipt was given to any of us . I miss the waitress and bus people that was there previously they were Great! If I could of given 1.5 for over all . It saddens me since that was where we took our family when they came...
Read moreAll of this time living in the Rogue Valley and I didn't know this was so close to me. By close I mean about a 30 minute drive, but it was worth it. It's not a fancy place but it is a friendly place and the menu is extensive and the food is very good. We went in the fall so it was too cold to sit outside but I did see that there's outside seating available to watch the river and anything inhabiting the river such as boats and intertubes go by when the temp is a little warmer.
I love that this place was tucked off the road and you didn't see it right away oh, you had to look for the sign. Nice little entryway into the restaurant and bar letting you know that this was going to be a comfortable place to be. There's the usual hamburgers and sandwiches and breakfast served all day except for pancakes which was a huge disappointment but I understand. Lots of other dinner options like pasta fish, meatloaf, prime rib, Etc. All served with tasty sides and a friendly face, a masked face which I appreciated given were still in the midst of covid. Given that this place is in Shady Cove I wasn't hopeful that the masks were going to be on faces, but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this sign outside their door, "No mask, No Mac's". I appreciated this, and they're serious about it. It's not that they agree with it but it's a rule they must follow in order not to be shut down, and I know I can respect that rule and them for...
