Need a dinner spot? 🍽 ⬇️ This place serves up seafood, cajun fare, and so many more delicious entrees! 🦞 In addition to their downtown Shakopee location, @mallardsrestaurant has three other locations in Minnesota, including Bloomington, Forest Lake, Inver Grove Heights, and a Wisconsin location in New Richmond! The downtown Shakopee location that we visited had a great interior and an outdoor patio - perfect for those warm, summer MN nights. 🌞 If you're wanting comfort food, seafood or something a little healthier, they truly have it all! 👏 📌SAVE + share this post with a friend that you'd bring with! ✨️FOLLOW @hungrygirl_mpls for more Twin Cities dinner spots! 🦞@mallardsrestaurant 📍Shakopee, Inver Grove Heights, Forest Lake, Bloomington, MN + New Richmond, WI . . . #hungygirlmpls #MN #minnesota #mnrestaurant #hungrygirl #mnfoodie #foodiesofIG #eater #yelpmsp #startribune #devourpower #eatdrinkdish #eeeeeats #tryitordiet #foodbeasts #buzzfeast #twincities #exploremn #mplsfoodie #noleftovers #fyp #mncheck

Our inaugural visit to this establishment was underwhelming and likely our last. Upon making our reservation, we anticipated prompt seating, but unfortunately, that was not the case. There was no hostess present to greet us, and the atmosphere seemed chaotic, with numerous patrons waiting in line without any acknowledgment from staff. After approaching an employee, we were informed that our requested table by the window was unavailable for the foreseeable future. We opted for an alternative table and were eventually attended to by our waiter, who provided water without inquiry or introduction. Throughout our dining experience, our waiter struggled to recall our orders. While the presentation of the salmon and fettuccine shrimp was impressive, the execution of my sea bass and risotto was lacking, particularly with regards to the excessive oil. Notably, the crab cakes were misshapen. No complimentary offerings or apologies were extended for the delay or table assignment issue. The absence of patio heaters diminished the enjoyment of the outdoor seating area. However, the bartender was courteous and welcoming. It would be beneficial for the owner to appoint a competent hostess to ensure a warm welcome for all guests.

Austin, our waiter, was very knowledgeable about menu items we had questions on. And, ask for his suggestions of our selective items. Austin was very attentive & even said fresh coffee was being brewed. As I am a coffee drinker. Food portions were medium size, but well prepared & delicious. I,ve been known to have a hollow leg. My Lady-in-Crime & I have been together for 22 years & we bicker a lot in a silly way. Austin played along with our wittyness. AnyWho, I decided to order a dessert of New York style cheseecake. Ask for fresh strawberries & loaded it up with whipped cream. Austin said the Pastry Chef really stepped it up on this one. Our thanks for Austin, Pastry chef, & chef that prepared our food for such a positive experience at Mallards, as this was our first time. My daughter is coming up for a visit the third week of July. We plan on bringing her to Mallards. We live in Credit River. But, our experience at Mallards via Austin, Pastry chef, & chef that prepared our food will make worth it worthwhile.

I would not recommend this restaurant. The food was poor quality and really bad. We started with the elote corn fritter appetizer, it was OK but just tasted bland. The lobster bisque was the most disappointing part of the whole meal. To call it a bisque should be illegal. There was nothing creamy, silky or smooth about it. There was zero flavor. Not a hint of seafood flavor, no cream, nothing. It was basically a watery broth soup with small shreds of what I'm guessing was lobster, but might have been tomato skin because we found large pieces of that in it as well. It was awful. For our mains we ordered the steak Alfredo pasta and the Surf and Turf. Both were disappointing. The filet on the Surf was really undercooked, and the texture was mushy. It was supposed to be Med Rare but was definitely rare and cool throughout. To make it worse, each component from the steak to the shrimp to the vegetables were severely over seasoned and I could not finish it. I love salt and it was too much for me. On the other hand, the Steak Alfredo was bland, the alfredo sauce lacked any seasoning. It had way too many crispy onions on it. Unfortunately, the cocktails were also bad. They were very small and the ratio of ingredients seemed off. There did not seem to be any tequila in the margaritas. Overall, the service was fine, our waitress got busy and never returned to the table but another gentleman took over in her place. The only thing this place has going for it is the patio and view, but it doesn't justify the cost of the over priced gross food. I feel bad writing such a bad review but this place is not good and people...

Mallard's should have been Ducky! Instead, it was full of 'quacks'!! 😉 I will say the Lobster Bisque and Blue Cheese dressing we're outstanding, but lot's of holes in easily fixable spots. Service was brusk, at times bordering on rude ( only 3 tables occupied at 3:00pm on a Monday). Mentioned we were celebrating Wife's birthday... Crickets. Oh we'll, then we noticed torn linen napkins, empty salt, pepper and about 5 drops of their company's signature pepper sauce, plus dirty side plates delivered... What? Side work!! C'mon, easily fixable. The wings were delicious, however they were priced per pound, and they conveniently left on the disjointed wing part that is pure bone and gristle! At over $1.85 a wing (actually, mostly drummies), cut that part off, right? Two Slider's we're a plate of nothingness with a ramekin of ketchup, yikes. Actually! Cute spot, the deck looks inviting, but not this late-December visit. Prices are pretty high for a few good looking items, but overall way short of any reasonable expectation of value! ($5 for 12 oz domestic bottle...nice margin at ($120 / case of Coor's Light!) Finally, perhaps most disappointing... 3 tables, right? Food arrived kinda warm. 😳 Mallard's has lot's of quacks, but with a duck's chance at...

About a week ago my sister and I tried making reservations online at Mallard's using Open Table, After many attempts and all unsuccessful, we finally called and whoever answered took our reservation for 5pm on a Monday.

Upon arriving we were not greeted. We approached a female who happend to be the bartender and kindly seated us. Adding to this, we later found out that we came during a waitress shift change. However, it still took some time before we saw a waitress on the floor, after we were seated.

The entire experience just came with more disappointments. Unfortunately, my meal was put into their system incorrectly. The bartender later acknowledged her error. She did apologize and said she was going to correct her mistake. However, I NEVER RECEIVED THE SHRIMP I ORDERED AND WE SAW NO FOLLOWUPS TO OUR TABLE UNLESS WE ASKED FOR ASSISTANCE.

We both enjoyed the food (although I never saw what I ordered) and I did receive a correction on my bill for their error. In conclusion we recommend going well before or after 5 pm in hopes not to experience what we did. This bartender, once she seated us, should have passed us onto one of the evening waitresses so we could have experienced the full service...
