I recently checked out Mister Taco in Shakopee, and the experience was underwhelming. When we arrived, there were only two tables occupied, including ours. We were a party of six, but the staff initially split our group between two tables. We had to ask multiple times to have the tables pushed together, which was strange since they had already done that for the other party dining there. Service was a major letdown. It was hard not to notice the difference between how we were treated and how the other table (a group of Caucasian diners) was served. They were given pitchers of water, while our table was checked on only every so often. The disparity in service really left a bad taste. As for the food, I tried the taco pizza and the birria torta. The taco pizza was pretty good, but the birria pizza was overrated. I had seen some content online that made it look amazing, but it didn’t live up to the hype. The torta was decent, but overall, the food quality didn’t justify the price—it felt a bit spent for what we got. On a positive note, the restaurant itself is cute inside, and the patio was a nice vibe for outdoor dining. However, I wouldn’t make the drive from St. Paul again, as the service and food didn’t leave a lasting impression. At least parking is free, so that’s one less thing to worry about.

Our server was very kind, made sure we were doing good, checked up on us and just all in all was very pleasant but, I don’t think he understood the kind of drink I wanted. I had asked for an agua mineral preparada and he basically gave me a michelada with no beer. We had also ordered a Gordita which was honestly VERY disappointing, the tinga was flavorless. The presentation of it looked great! But it was just waaaaay too doughy, the masa wasn’t cooked all the way and it came out cold. Also ordered a torta de asada, I love avocado but they literally just cut the whole avocado in half and put one half on each side instead of slicing it so I got a mouthful of avocado. Definitely could’ve used more meat on it. Didn’t have much flavor unfortunately. Also, parts of the bun were very hard and crumbled as I tried to break it off. I’m only giving 2 stars because the tacos were very tasteful! I even took a few home after. They didn’t have any of the meat options I initially wanted but I made ends meet and just went w asada tacos. I loved the fresh veggie and salsa bar they had though! That was probably the best part of this experience. I personally don’t think I’ll be going back but Give it a try though, your experience might be more pleasant. I might’ve just been unlucky.

Place was tiny so if your planning to come with the whole family make sure you called ahead to get some tables ready for you ! And price was good we paid for a family of 4 $100 +tip which is already added to the bill a total of $117 hubby order 8 tacos we order 2 tortas and a order of quebirria tacos and 4 drinks ! We were extremely satisfied with the food !

I've never met a Mexican restaurant I didn't like - but here we are. For starters, their menu looks insanely good and the inside was cute, so I was pumped. Ordered a margarita and was told they don't have a liquor license. Weird because there's multiple alcoholic / beer items listed on the menu, but whatever - I can move on from that. Strike 1. Ordered chips and guac to start. The guacamole for sure came out of a bag and looked like green paste. It was super watery, runny and started to separate after sitting there - uneaten by us - after about 20 minutes. Strike 2. One of us got a veggie burrito (mushroom and onion) and it came out as a HUGE burrito stuffed with a bunch of wilted and blended up spinach....no rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, etc. that's listed to come with it....just a burrito stuffed with soggy spinach and a pile of french fries on the side. Bizarre. I ordered veggie tacos (again, mushroom and onion) and they came out, once again, with wilted mushy spinach, bell peppers and a couple mushrooms. The "corn" tortillas were soggy and inedible. Strike 3, 4, 5...I've lost count now at this point. Truly a very disappointing experience that I am surprised we didn't get food poisoning from. I have never not loved a mexican place or mexican food, but this was SO BAD. Don't...
