It was late and I was pushing it towards getting there right as they closed. The lady taking my order gladly took it and said she understood. When I told her my father was in the hospital. I got there. Everything was ready but somebody had called in the wrong place and they were from Greensboro and so they had food left over at the speedy wok that would not be sold. So I offered to buy it and the lady was touched and sold it to me for $5. A large chicken lo mein. So all the food is good. Always has been. I feel that it always will be. And the people are kind and that goes the long way. As far as the atmosphere, it seems like they're rearranging getting ready to do tables again because that stopped when covid came through and now it looks like they're going to go ahead and start tables again. It was all white and clean and nice smelling. I hope to try their wing special. They seem like good prices and go up to 50 at a time. It will be great for football season. But either way the food hasalways been great. My favorite there is beef egg foo young I always get that with an extra side of gravy (they call it brown sauce I think)so I highly recommend that dumplings are good. I get them fried but you can also get them steamed. Simply because the food is great and the people are kind. I would highly recommend this...
Read moreI LOVE Speedy Wok..... usually. I've ordered from them many, many times and every time have had great experiences. That is, until last night. Now, I know I'm picky, as I'm a working chef with multiple cuisines, including Asian cuisines (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean). I know and love food, and give credit where it's due. That said EVERYTHING was bad. The sweet and sour sauce was neither sweet nor sour, and only worked to make the extremely dry, EXCEPTIONALLY bland chicken wet. The chicken mai fun was so horribly bland that there was no way to differentiate between rice noodle and the chicken. The only saving grace was the Happy Family, and even that was underseasoned. Now we get to the heart of the order problem. The egg rolls. Usually, the egg rolls from Speedy Wok are worth fighting over. The wrappers crispy with just the right amount of chewiness, the filling hot and well combined, always the star attraction. It pains me to say that all 8 of the ones I purchased last night were horrible. I have never, 47 years, had a worse egg roll. Soggy, limp, prefrozen, and freezer burned, with a filling that had turned rancid. I spent 70 bucks on food that was entirely inedible. It will be quite some time before I order from Speedy Wok again,...
Read moreMe and my partner were craving Chinese food and after an hour of comparing takeout places we decided on Speedy Wok and I’m so glad we did. I got the chefs special sesame chicken and white rice and crab Rangoon and my partner got the beef lo mein and black pepper chicken and fried rice. I haven’t had good takeout in years and it’s worth the 15 minute drive!!! The crab Rangoon is amazzingggg and everything was well seasoned and great portions. This will be our regular takeout spot now!! She even gave us an extra lemonade on the house! We had gotten the pink lemonade originally and she gave us the original one as well. They were very friendly and had great attitudes! Rocky Mount yall are missing out!!!! We walked in and ordered our food and was probably there maybe 15 minutes...
