Coldwater Café — Restaurant in Sheffield

I just read that Coldwater has new owners, so maybe I shouldn't compare. But, bad food is bad food, so I need to let you know. I remember going to the Coldwater in downtown Tuscumbia in the 90s. My favorite order was the fried chicken finger salad. I remember the tenders being rather large and crispy. Now, I haven't gone back since then, and I was kind of looking forward to it. I went to the drive-thru and ordered a chili cheeseburger with large size fries. I also ordered one chicken finger, but more on that later. I should have checked the order before I left. When I opened the box, I found a chili cheese burger, if you could call it that. The bun was smashed and stale. The meat was weird and gritty, as was the chili. When I opened it up, there were two little dinky slices of onion that I could see through. The french fries, that were supposed to be large size, weren't, and were okay but kind of limp. Anyway, the burger was obviously inedible. So, as you can imagine, I was looking forward to the tender I had ordered. I opened a little bag, and there it was in all it's glory! I actually laughed out loud. There the poor little thing was, hiding from me in it's embarrassment at being called a chicken tender. It was a little baby chicken tender! It was about 2 and a half to 3 inches long and about an inch wide if that. And, to add insult to injury, the poor little thing cost around 2 bucks. I miss the...

I really don't understand what the new owner's are thinking , the food size dropped dramatically and the price went up , I understand if they used the same meat for hamburger as before but using a smaller and thinner patty but charging more I don't get it, I got 2 drinks 2 jumbo burgers , one had cheese and bacon it came to 17.49 . The price of the burger is 4.50 so they pretty much charge you for 3 burgers or more for getting one with cheese and bacon, the woman that runs the drive thru is rude and made a comment about how most ppl tip as she gave me the debit card Clipboard , I laughed bc that's like going to Jack's, or any other fast food drive thru and them requesting a tip ..... I really wish the other people still owned it the whole environment and food and customer service was way better ... Never...

I love the building, it's so quaint but thats the best I can say about my experience. I ordered the patty melt with fried potatoes. I wish I'd known mayo came on it automatically. A patty melt comes normally with meat onion cheese and rye bread...the fried potatoes were awful. Some were cooked, most were raw..the "patty melt" is actually just a burger on Texas toast...my husband got the same, fries instead, but those were soggy and unedited. Totally not worth the 17 bucks we spent. Our first experience here will be our last. The lady that waited on us was quite rude and not helpful at all...the older gentleman seemed very nice and pleasant....just not the best place...
