My wife and I went with a rather large group of 13 others after church one night. The atmosphere and surroundings were very nice. The personnel were friendly, and we enjoyed ourselves. Unfortunately, my order of the four tacos plate with a side order of rice and refried beans was fouled-up. You had a choice of several types of tacos, and whether hard or soft tortillas, which I thought was nice. I chose the carne asada hard tacos since it had been a while since I had had that, and knew shredding the meat would make it easier to eat.
When the waitress repeated the order back to me, she only mentioned the carne asada. I told her that wasn't it, and to her credit, she asked me to point the item out on the menu, which I did.
When my food arrived, I was brought a carne asada steak with beans, rice, a pepper and avocado, along with the additional order of rice and beans.
The waitress, to her benefit, noticed I was puzzled about the food I received, and she asked me what was wrong. I pointed out on the menu what I had ordered, tacos, and she said she thought I was pointing out the carne asada, which is the first choice of taco given. She offered to correct it, but I chose eat what I was served, mainly because everyone in our group was starting to eat and with the size of our group we had already been in the restaurant about 45 minutes.
The carne asada was tasty, but a little tough, like most carne asada. The carne asada plate looked very good; however, I don't eat peppers or avocados. I took the extra beans and rice home to eat with tacos I will make for lunch the next day.
This was the first time I had eaten here, and while I had a so-so experience with the food served, because of the atmosphere, I will probably will give them a...
Read moreEverything was absolutely perfect. I got the mixed fajitas and my best friend got chicken fajitas. Everything came out sizzling and delicious. The steak and chicken were both very tender the peppers and onions were very fresh. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The salsa was some of the best I've had... It was on the spicy side but that's the way I like it. The cheese dip was not runny like some places, it was very good. The tortilla chips were thin and crispy and very fresh. The tea was a different story however... My best friend said the tea tasted like honey or raw cane Suger. Personally, I rather enjoyed it. It wasn't overpowering like some of the tea typically served in the south. I don't see how this place has any bad reviews If the rest of their food is as good as what we had because it's as good as anything I've had. I highly recommend you ignore some of the bad reviews and give this place a shot to redeem their name because they are...
Read moreThis restaurant will PUNISH you for a to-go order. Every item you order will incur a 25 cent charge as a to-go fee. If you get a large cheese dip they will ADD a $2.99 to go charge (which is stated on their menu). Their A La Cart Burritos are $3.99 in store, but they charge $5.99 if you order to go as well as a $1 up-charge for steak, and of course the extra $.25 cents. So an A La Cart steak burrito to go will be $7.24, not the $4.99 if you ordered in-store. The food is exactly the same as any other strip mall Mexican restaurant, so at least you know exactly what you'll get, just be sure to know exactly what you'll pay before ordering to go. A cheese dip, burrito, taco salad, and two side tacos should not cost $37 bucks... If you want to spend that much go to Rosie's. If you want actual authentic Mexican in the shoals go to the Taqueria on...
