Johnny Black's Taphouse — Restaurant in Shelby Charter Township

On the night of 08/31/2025 before Labor Day. I was very disappointed with the service of the this particular site. My wife and I came in to have a nice date night because, we expected the same service that we would get from Ale and Eddie's Taphouse because it's the same owner. Not what happened. So the bartender did great with the drinks but didn't do well with the ordering of our food. And she wrote it down. I don't know if she felt like she had to rush or because it was nearing the end of the night that she didn't caring or wanted to listen properly. I asked for the 22 mile steak tips and pointed to when I she wrote it down. When our food came out it was the steak bites, big difference. And when asked for a menu to double check what was supposed to be included with the 22 mile steak tips, it was some backlash from the bar keep that "the appetizer is different from the meal." Of course I knew this and my wife and I explained that was not I ordered and told her you wrote it down. And it was then that the dish was offered to be redone. Overall all instead of trying to lie just be honest and say you made a mistake.....and apologize. That would have been more acceptable. I just hope you do better in the future for the...

Don't know if ill be back. It was the first time me and my hubs came last night. Sat at the bar, got a margarita(very good btw) but, service went downhill from there. Our orders were taken and we made some modifications. by the time we got our food, all of it was missing an item. my date was missing items from his dish (he was told what he asked for was considered a dinner(?) and thats "not what he said" asked for a menu to show what he asked for even though it was written down AND pointed to when the order was taken and he had to wait for it to be remade), ½ our boneless wings had no sauce, my pasta dish wasnt right either and the bartender seemed non-chalant about it. I asked for a specific side of sauce got two cups of sauce that was wrong. After a certain point, we didnt bother asking for anything else. They only heard ½ of what we ordered. $70 is lot of money for food that isnt the way you asked for. I can say, the food was fresh and even though it was messed up, it tasted okay. Johnny Black is one of the best places going in Shelby Township when it comes to an all around restaurant/bar experience. Late night menu till 11:00 is awesome! I was there tonight and unfortunately tonight and the last time I was here it’s not uncommon to feel uncomfortable or overrun by riff raff. A certain table took over the entire bar with whooping and hollering. It was a birthday, but they sang about 5 times and were being obnoxious to the point that everyone at the entire bar had a disgusted look on their face. Honestly everyone in the restaurant was on the same page about not coming back if this is what they have to deal with. Brought it up to the waitress and she thought it was funny. Almost turns into an uncomfortable club environment at a certain point with clientele mostly of “ethnic” decent. There has to be some form of respect for all of the patrons and these guys rolled in like apes at the freaking zoo.
