Southern Maid Donuts — Restaurant in Shreveport

We had the pleasure of visiting Southern Maid Donuts with friends and family and had a pleasant experience. As we entered the establishment we did not notice any slip or trip hazards. Upon walking in it was 7pm and there were 4 individuals in line ahead of us. While we waited in line we enjoyed great music by The Isley Brother playing through the speakers which set the atmosphere. What I enjoyed about Southern Maid is the great customer service we received from the young lady taking our order, who greeted us with a smile and a lot of joy as she did the individuals in line before us. Equally as important the donuts were fresh and hot at 7pm. For a half dozen of donuts the cost was $5.59. if you want fresh and hot donuts. And you passing through Shreveport on I-20 stop and enjoy.

So utterly disappointed by this visit. Came around 2 pm on a Wed during a turnaround trip from Dallas to find an apparent change in ownership and a cold, limited supply of not-so-fresh donuts which excluding a single glazed option. Wow! Needless to say, I left without buying anything. There's a sign that says fresh donuts are made at 4pm daily. I'm puzzled about why a business would stay open past the morning rush, until 10 pm, but refuse to make fresh donuts for the 6-8 hours in between. Makes more sense to close during non-peak times and reopen when you can offer a fresh, quality product. This would alleviate the risk of getting horrible reviews and losing long- standing customers. I've come here for decades but won't likely be back to this location during my rare, future Louisiana visits. Another tradition...

**UPDATE AS OF SEPTEMBER 01, 2024. Lady behind counter was rude, per my husband. We made it there at 5:45pm, and the lady tells him, with an attitude, that the donuts won't be ready for another 15 minutes.......EVEN THOUGH THE HOT SIGN WAS ON!!! We just left and will NOT be returning. This is Not the only place to get donuts!

Delicious donuts. Opens at 3:00pm. Hot at 4pm. Good location since right off I-20 freeway. This location doesn't have a drive-through or seating area. By the way, these taste better than Krispy Kreme donuts.

Operating hours are now 8am - 10pm but Closed on Tuesday. As of Thursday, May 4th, 2023 when we went, There were a couple of tables where people can sit. The fresh glazed donuts are...
