We visited just after lunch on a weekday so it was slow - just one other couple with us and we had the place to ourselves, the place has a large selection of candies boxed and free in the case so you can cherry pick to your fancy but what was disappointing was the two clerks behind the counter - totally uninterested in being there, I asked about HFCS in their candies and he was unable to answer this, only to suggest to read the labels at the back of the packages. (Is there any training for customer facing folks anymore?) We didn't know it upon arrival but the 2nd clerk doubled as the ice cream attendant and so after waiting 2 minutes for someone to show up, she eventually came over - and we got some service.
Apathetic help kills any favourable customers experience anytime - we left after getting some ice cream and didn't bother even looking at the candies, we will not be coming back either as this place is hopping on the weekends so I can only speculate how underserved you'd be then. There are quite a few candy shops nearby that are just as efficient but way better customer service which we will be going to instead for our little...
ย ย ย Read moreThis place totally lived up to its name! I was expecting a small selection of overpriced candy, but I was wrong. There are multiple rooms full of candies! I went after Easter and was able to reap the benefits of discount Wabbits. I totally raided the "by the pound" candy selection, got a few candy sticks, as well as a bag of rainbow laces, and some other things. I panicked a bit, because I was worried that I might have gotten a little too carried away, but nope. My total was less than $20. That's a win for me. The rainbow laces were the perfect texture: wonderfully chewy, yet still very soft and just the right amount of flavor. I was in heaven when I bit into a milk chocolate Wabbit with almonds. It was so smooth and creamy, and not overwhelmingly sweet like I've experienced from other gourmet chocolates. The dark chocolate and coconut bar was amazing, a perfect balance of the bitterness and richness of dark chocolate and the mellowness of coconut. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. I definitely want to try out the ice cream bar...
ย ย ย Read moreWhat a fun trip. Heberts is about an hour drive for us. We are huge fans of Hilliards chocolates in Easton going several times per year. Now we will also be making recurring trips to Heberts. The mansion itself is beautiful and inviting. Pleanty of parking and worth looking at from the outside for a few minutes before going in. Very photo worthy spot. Inside is well spaced with the individual candy displays set up beautifilully. Decorated seasonally and themed beautifully the candy mansion is a good visit even for a diabetic like myself. Their chocolate is exceptional and their house made candy is beyond compair. You will not regret eating them. Especially the raspberry chocolate jellies. While you could certainly spend a good deal of money there it is very reasonably priced and their home made chocolate bars are larger and less costly than the supermarket brands. Highly...
