Chinese Palace Restaurant — Restaurant in Silver City

Overall, a very nice Chinese restaurant in small town New Mexico. I arrived 15 minutes before closing and they still sat me without complaint, which is a rare treat in today’s post Covid restaurant environment.

The service is outstanding and chef / owner Ping Lee is taking Chinese cooking in Silver City to the next level with her always fresh ingredients approach.

The sweet-and-sour chicken with the sauce on the side. The chicken was nicely cooked, but the sauce had a taste that I could not put my finger on what it was, but it was not something to my liking, so I did not eat the sauce.

The barbecue fried rice was very good and nicely spiced.

The Kung Pow Chicken had solid flavors with lots of vegetables.

The staff and service were outstanding even though the restaurant was packed with customers.

One of very few restaurants today that you will find everything is made from scratch. The crispy wontons, the crab ragoons, the egg rolls are all all made by hand from scratch when many Chinese restaurants buy them frozen. I highly recommend as personal favorites are the crab ragoons, the combo appetizer, the dinner combinations (chicken chow mein or subgum chicken chow mein with your choice of rice and an appetizer item on the same plate). During cool weather I absolutely crave the Wonton soup and egg flower soup. I'm in love with the shrimp curry, shrimp cantonese, shrimp with mushrooms, and ANY of the items with BBQ pork, slow cooked delicious...
