This place is quite literally the best Indian food I've had outside of NYC and I've tried a good number of establishments throughout the USA. I make huge batches of curry with seasonal local vegetables and proteins on a regular basis and serve it to my friends and family to the extent that it has become known that if I extend the invite to "come for curry" you would be inclined to accept. On the basis of my passion for a good curry, I invite the reader to IGNORE the negative reviews as they are most certainly not eating the same love infused delicacies I have become accustomed to here at Little India in Simsbury.
First of all, the owners are ALWAYS PRESENT to cook 100% of the food they sell. They don't hire cooks, they only hire helpers. Therefore I am sure that every dish they serve up is consistently phenomenal.
When you come to Little India, you have to expect a uniquely Little India experience. If you come for dinner, the place may be completely empty, or if you come for lunch there may be another table or 2. Either way it is an intimate experience so bring your close friends and prepare for the feast of your life. It is BYOB so bring some tasty craft beers and get rowdy. You will have a great time eating and drinking and eating until you are so full it hurts. The tiny and dingy bathrooms are the cherry on top of the most authentic Indian dining experience of your life. Just be careful what you wish for if you think you like it spicy!
Food highlights include but are not limited to: Peshwari naan Garlic naan Bhaji Paneer pakora Mixed tandoori grill Anything lamb but specifically these curries Madras Boti kabab masala Saag
People also really like the tikka masala and mango curries but they are a little simple for my palate which prefers complexity and layers. Don't be afraid to ask to substitute vegetables! I don't like potatoes in my curry much because of the density so I always replace them with something more nutritious. The buttery decadent rice is always loaded with peas which is a great touch!

Read moreWe ordered dinner take out, and unfortunately, my entire family was disappointed by their meal... Their definition of "mixed vegetables" in a vegetable based dish called a "Special" was comprized of a bag of frozen peas, carrots and corn from the grocery store, the lamb roganjosh sauce was incredibly oily and watered down, and the other dishes which my mother and husband get frequently when we travel were both so mediocre and bland that they didn't want to bother finishing thier food. The people who worked there seemed nice, but I hope they can update their recipes with better ingredients so that people who are more accustomed to Indian cuisine will not be so disappointed. We spent so much money on a meal that none of us enjoyed. Sorry to say we won't...
Read moreLittle India in Simsbury serves some truly great food. The flavors are authentic, and you can tell they put love into every dish. I’ve eaten at many Indian restaurants, both across the U.S. and internationally, and this place holds its own.
Sure, the service can be slow sometimes, especially for pickup orders, but that’s part of the charm of a small-town, family-run spot. Anything fast doesn’t usually last places like this take their time, and it shows in the quality of the food.
That said, a little renovation and some community involvement could take it to the next level. It’s a gem that deserves even more local support. With a bit of a refresh, it could easily become a standout destination. Either way, I’ve never left disappointed, and I’ll keep...
