Tonite was my first time at Los Cantarinos. I believe that from now on when I want Mexican food that is as real as it says it is, im going to Los Cantarinos. I'm not a restaurant connoisseur, but I have a certain tasteful palate of flavor for Mexican food, and that's bc it's my favorite food. So anyways back to earlier, I was in a hurry and I wanted something different so I decided on Los Cantarinos because it was close and Yee's was closed so I placed a go order and in 15 mins I was taking home the best tasting beef burritos and Chile rellenos and quesadillas as well as the good ol beans and rice that you have ho have when you go for Mexican food. The sauces were homemade, the chips and salsa were like a nice cool evening on the beach in a place where you can't pronounce the name they were so good. I will eventually over time will have one of everything on the menu and maybe even try some of their margaritas. And they won't hurt your wallet but if u like Mexican food you won't care . Best flavor, many options, nice portions, good warm service and lots of reasons...
Read moreStopped in today as a recommendation to try for lunch today. I will say that the food is totally horrendous and the service was mediocre. Not sure how you a place can be empty and all you do is order 4 hard tacos and nachos, and they arrive at the table within 5 minutes which was nice but they were a completely soggy nasty mess. The chicken nachos were soggy corn chip soup with zero flavor and not to mention instead of covered with queso it was just shredded cheese and had been put in the oven. The tacos both beef and chicken could not even be picked up. The taco shells were completely soggy and everything has to just be eaten with a fork. Sad to say this is the first and last time I will ever visit this business and definitely would never recommend them to anyone. Too bad can't leave a negative star review!!
The best bang for the money in Slidell on Mexican cuisine is still EL PASO cause a lot of food for the money and nachos and tacos are never soggy when brought...

To start, we had chips, salsa, and cheese dip. The chips and dip were average. The salsa was tasty with fresh onions and cilantro - very bright in flavor, which I enjoyed.
We tried the signature Cantaritos drink. It came in a cool clay cup, but the drink was just ok.
For entrees we had steak tacos, shrimp tacos, a kid’s chicken taco, and beans/rice. All were very good. The adult tacos were served on corn maseca tortillas and came with a tomatillo sauce, which was tasty and somewhat spicy. They were also liberal with the cilantro and onions. The beans and rice were ok.
Also, the meal came with “self serve” charro beans. The family loved the flavor of the beans.
The host and service were friendly and attentive. The restaurant was very busy at 6pm - probably because many people are trying it out. The restaurant was well lit and clean.
Overall, we had a good experience and will...
