This was my first experience with Kenney's Seafood. When you walk in the door there is a very small lobby area where you order your food. This ares also includes the fountain drink machine, so traffic is heavy for such a confined space. Right next door is the market and there is a doorway between the market and restaurant that creates more traffic through the already congested area where you order. After you place your order, you get your own drink and, if you're lucky, you find a comfortable table to sit and wait. We were not lucky and were forced to sit at a high bar along the back wall. I will admit they were busy, so it took nearly 25 minutes to get the first plate... yes, only one plate. I got my food first and was forced to stare at it while the rest of my family stared as well. About 5 minutes later, my son's plate arrived while my wife and daughter were still plateless. My son and I started on our plates, which were now getting cold. About 5 minutes after my son got his food, my wife's plate arrived... daughter still has no food. Now we have 3 plates, have been there for 35 minutes. I am almost done with my plate at this point and had to flag down an employee to ask when was the rest of our food going to arrive. After a minute she returned and said it would be right out. Another minute or two later and it did. 10 minutes after my wife got her plate and about 5 minutes after my son and I were already finished. The restaurant was completely self serve except that they brought your food from the kitchen. You get your own drink, your own condiments, your own silverware, your own refills, and clear your own table. The dining room was dreadfully cramped, stiflingly hot, and there were no blinds so the sun was right in our face. Side note... the stainless steel tables in the dining area also reflects the sunlight, right in your face. On a positive note, the portion sizes were generous and the food was not bad. Everything we had was on par for fried seafood and a hamburger. That is really the only positive note. For an average of $17.50 per person, I would expect better. Better service for the cost, or lower cost for the lack there of. If the food had been less generous or less than average I would have rated one star. I would recommend going just a bit further down the road. There is a cafe with better service, a larger dining room and, in my opinion alone, better food for about...
Read moreI came to Kenney’s Seafood for the first time in several years. I now remember why I haven’t been back. I ordered the red beans and catfish special with the corn and crab bisque on the side. As far as the food goes, the catfish was salty and a little over cooked. The tartar sauce was very tasty so it made the fish bearable. The red beans were watery and rice was undercooked. The corn and crab bisque was very sweet, almost like sugar was added to it. I had lunch with two other people, both ordered the same thing and had the same critique. That wasn’t the worst part. The worst part was the customer service. I ordered a cup of ice because I don’t drink soda (or anything else for that matter) and I brought a bottled water with me. Rebecca was working behind the counter. She charged me and I went to get ice from the ice machine. I looked at my receipt to see what my number was and noticed that she charged me $2.49 for a cup of ice. I went to the counter and told her that she charged me $2.49 for Ice. She said, “oh we have to”. I said, “well, I’m not paying $2.49 for ice and I would like a refund”. Rebecca instantly got an attitude. She went in to the back of the restaurant, came back out, pulled $2 out of the tip jar and handed it to me. Then went in to the register and gave me .50 (forgetting about the tax I guess). I asked her what she wanted me to do with the cup and she said, “leave it on the counter”. When I got to my seat my friend that I was eating with was complaining that she was charged extra for using her debit card. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not about the cost of $2.50 ice, it’s that Rebecca didn’t mention the charge not only for my ice but also for the fee when using a debt card. To top that off, her attitude was nasty. At the end of the day she threw the Ice away and lost 3 customers in...
Read moreFirst time eating in the restaurant here. Very disappointed as I have bought seafood from here at the market several times. I ordered the seafood platter and fully expected it to be as pictured online and on the menu. Unfortunately my experience was not something I would want anyone else to experience. My number was called and when I went to the counter to retrieve it a paper sack was pushed towards me. I was bewildered because I did not place a to-go order, I was eating in. When I informed them of this the little blonde girl rolled her eyes and snatched the bag up and threw it to a table in the kitchen. I guess they then proceeded to literally DUMP all the contents out on a tray and someone brought it out to me. The pictures clearly show how pitiful and disappointing the so-called "platter" was!! Shrimp were cold and hard, overcooked, I had one sliver of catfish, and what was supposed to be my soft shell crab looked like just a shell, though of what I couldn't tell. The boudain balls were burnt! I should have followed my first instinct and asked for my money back but I was so hungry and frustrated at that point I decided to eat my sliver of fish and a couple of the greasy, over breaded oysters and just call it a day. As I was trying to eat what I could of this Trainwreck, the rude little blonde girl came into the dining room and began loudly scooting the metal chairs across the floor and slamming things around on tables. Needless to say that I will NOT be going back to eat there ever again. The service was horrible and the food even worse. I usually go to Pearls for the seafood platter but decided to give Kennys a try because my in-laws like it. Pearl's is definitely better,...
