Sam’s Southern Eatery Slidell,La — Restaurant in Slidell

This place was a pleasant surprise. I didn't know if I wanted seafood or a burger. Upon getting here, we both decide on different fish combos. His being fish and chicken which comes with 2 sides and a roll. Mine being fish and shrimp, also with 2 sides and a roll. (They also give the option of grilled or fried on all of it.) The staff were awesome, answered any questions you had and seemed to be in a great mood. This was all around a great experience. Just about everything we ordered was impressive for the price... The coleslaw wasn't great. But the red beans and rice paired so well with the fish and fries. There were a couple things we saw on the website that we didn't see on the in store menu. So maybe at a later time, we'll have to see what that's about.

I visited this establishment several times, each time I had a different experience 1st time it was delicious and hot , we hamburger dress-2, chicken tender and fries, chicken wings and fish plates , it’s not catfish is Swai, I don’t mind, came back and had the whole fried catfish delicious, next time girlfriend can in from Tennessee and wanted a hot sausage poboy, it had very little meat on it, and it was not poboy bread, very disappointing, I had hamburger, my meat was all broken up and full of lettuce not seasoning, chicken salad looked ao nasty my husband refused to eat it, chicken tender for the kids were so small and only 4 . Positive first. The staff are friendly and the place is nice and clean. The fried green tomatoes were hot and good. The food tasted good but the shrimp poboy and oyster poboy were kinda pitiful. All lettuce and tomato. There were five shrimp on each shrimp poboy and literally only 3 fried oysters on my oyster poboy. It was a lettuce and tomato sub with 3 oysters. We will try something different next time and hope for a better experience. Hopefully it was just a mistake because selling pobots like that in this community wont get...
