Randazzo's Camellia City Bakery — Restaurant in Slidell

This Bakery has disappointed my family and I! We’ve ordered with this bakery for 15+ years. In the last 3 years or so, customer service has been horrible. One year, we ordered the largest size cake they offer. Instead, we were given two smalls, both of which were the wrong flavor. Someone had sold our king cake, which we had placed a reservation on weeks in advanced, and expected us to deal with it. We then were charged the price of the large cake, with the filling, as opposed to the two small traditionals.

We were able to get it fixed, though we had to discuss it for 20+ minutes. disappointing!

This year, we tried to place an order. First we were told we cannot order anything in advanced except for traditional and creamcheese. My grandpa asked when this had changed, only to be rudely interrupted and asked when i’d stop talking. He then was hung up.

My mother recalled to place an order. She finished through with the order only to be told she has to pay now. She asked when this was changed and was snapped at rudely. She then was placed on the phone with a supervisor, who made petty excuses when my mother attempted to explain the situation.

Days later, my grandfather recalled and placed an order for two king cakes. This time, we were able order a strawberry cheesecake flavor. When he arrived today, they gave him a traditional and a creamcheese. He had received no prior indication that this would be changed on him. A cop was in stores today, to prevent any possible fights because so many orders have been wrong.

*UPDATE * Received immediate response from Tricia, customer service at Randazzos. While I explained my goal of the review was to bring awareness to the issue and not for a free product Tricia stated Randazzos always stands behind it's products so we will receive a new kingcake. The customer service was prompt and very helpful. I believe the dry cake was a fluke as we have always had great success from Camilla City Bakery. I appreciate Tricia reaching out and anticipate a delicious kingcake in the future.

I am a Slidell native but have moved out of state. Every year for many years my birthday cake has always been a camellia City king cake. We've never had any complaints but this year was different. We ordered a medium traditional king cake to be shipped overnight as we have done for years. The shipping was great but the king cake was not. For the first time ever this king cake was extremely dry and it actually had residual red sprinkles on the king cake. Our thought was it was perhaps Frozen thawed and then had Mardi Gras colors put on the cake before shipping. Not what I expect when you spend almost $70 for a medium king cake. It was ok. Waited all year for a “great” king cake. They do not answer phones to let you place an order as they told me to do the day before. Went into a madhouse situation at 8.30am. The parking lot is/was ridiculous. A medium plain is all they had left for $26. It was somewhat dry, barely any cinnamon, but did have plenty icing. This was a unanimous opinion. Wanted a strawberry cream cheese, but lady said we should have been there at 6:30am. Huh? No one told me that on the phone the day before. Was told to call & place order & it would be ready by noon. Not true! I did not like the customer service & the way the procedure was handled at all! This was our first time & was unexpected I guess. It was so busy that they had police detail that early in the morning! Sorry, but not worth all of that & not convenient for some that do not live close. There was only 4 king cakes left when I arrived. So people are driving there hoping to get one or not. But if someone answered the phones, you could let the customer know before making a...
