Donna's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Smithfield Township

Let me start off we were on vacation staying at 7 point campground. We love to try 1 or 2 restaurants when we travel. We found Donna's review to be good and bad.. we wrote off the few bad and gave them a try. So below is our review.

We went here on a Saturday night 5pm for dinner. The wife and I ordered that days special stuffed peppers. It was under 8$ per plate, a fair price for the 1 small pepper we got. Saddly they placed our French fries on top of the juices running out of the pepper (drove my wife nuts). When I comented to the waitress her comment was "yeah the cook should have put on a separate plate." And walked away. My side saled was wilted and mushy. It was over dressed to hide the out dated greens. The pepper and it's content were cooked nicely. Just had NO flavor. Our son got a burger. He said it was ok.. funny thing was they put his huge portion of fries on a separate plate..

We heard many people saying how good Donna home made pies were.. prior to getting our food we had full intent on buying the slices to go.... But after our bland mushy food we just couldn't do it.. sorry.

The restaurant was clean and simple a nice place.. just needs to.. umm I am not sure what.

Well I moved near this restaurant recently and I seen the reviews were decent so I thought heck let's give it a try... Well we got there at about 925 am and was finally waited on at about 940 am.. from there we ordered and we didn't get our food till about 1045 am... While I was waiting I seen people that came in after me leaving because of not being waited on or not getting there food... I did wait for my food though.... When we got our food I was simply let down... I ordered the steak and eggs.. for my steak I asked for medium and it was cooked till there was no life left in it... My wife's breakfast wasn't even what she ordered... She ordered the eggs with sausage and toast and they have her a sausage egg and cheese sandwich... My daughter was still hungry after her meal which was the only one done right but very small portion!! We all ended up still...

I give the service 5☆, but unfortunately the majority of the food was not more than 1☆. The restaurant ceiling and surfaces were clean, and the staff was very kind. I travel a lot and temporarily here and wanted home cooked food. We stopped in at lunch time, about 12pm, because we were very hungry, and wanted to try it out. The meatloaf tasted like it's pre-frozen, or there needs to be a change to the recipe. It was served with bag/jar brown gravy, the home fries had no seasoning and tasted as though it was cooked and then refrigerated then warmed, it had no seasoning or onions in them. The pancakes were good, and the scrambled egg, though not seasoned, was fresh eggs that were nicely cooked. The roll was stale and the coffee either sat or was scorched.

Though we ate because we had time to stop elsewhere, I wouldn't...
