This review edited. MY Orig stay was in mid-Nov., 2015 and majority of review written then: "After reading the other reviews I decided to stay here. About $75 a nite AAA, weekend rates? Good Clean Room, unique fairly fast by learning the wifi system placed/mounted outdoors, using series of ommi direction 1/2 wave antennas to the south, seen out your windows. There are no extra AC outlets to charge cellphones at night on nite stand, just clock radio and Lamp. One AC outlet for lamp and your laptop, wt room phone on desk that wasn't hooked up and one phone on night stand, with no local or long distance access. Fridge not adjustable, microwave with limited preset timer buttons. The 720i flat screen TV set in my room had 1 PC 9pin, 2HDMI, and one USB inputs too, WITH DIGITAL COAX AUDIO.OUT, BUT NO SPEAKER/RCA LINE LEVELS. There are 57 channels of cable tv. I had a large king single, see pictures, on the medium to softside, 2 long skinny r4pillows...confortable enough, but maybe not as firm for back problems. GOOD HOT WATER temp and delivery very good for a long complex! Good mini-wall heater in bath room besides vented lighted fixture. Question why a false drop ceiling tho in main bedroom and sink area, not bath? PIPES, comm lines? Ice & Softdrink/bottled water venues are a small walk towards the center of the straight line complex. PART of older center complex is second story...with no elevator available for those rooms...views are good to the West Southwest. Found window panes are single with NO Tinting for UV filtering...even this mid-Nov. 2015 date, thru closed curtains, I was being microwaved by the afternoon sun! BOTH baseboard electric heat and mounted 5000btu? air conditioner/heater with dial temp and fan controls in main room, besides bathroom wall heater. Would I stay again...yes, but now aware of afternoon sun problem thru curtains, turning up air, lowering temp, at least in my room #45. Fairly quite complex with occassional noises thru the night, from heavy frieght trains but mostly motor droning a mile or two north, and some diesel semis going by on highway 22, about 70-100ft from your rooms. Nice to have modern desk and nite stands, with combined tv armour with three drawers, for those staying longer...and there was a slightly worn but compfy "lazyboy" type lounge chair. Several dual and single wall-mounted twist switched bed lights over my king bed, but only a ceiling overhead at entrance next to the outside tile & mirrored bath sink area. Coffee maker and iron /board in each room mounted next to microwave/fridge in my room. PASS ROOM DOOR has a single one turn double lock bolt above the door knob and chain lock so to enter the next room with their door...Small built in closet behind you at sink and next to bathroom entrance. No windows in bathroom, or toward parking/door entrance. There was slight settlling of floor on door lock side letting in prominent light and air under door, so be aware in this room for that and winter cold/summer heat and insects...picky yes...but being informed will help you adjust to your stay...I write this in this now controlled, comfortable room. Had a good nights sleep for me... If I'm in the area, I would stay again. WALMART is 1/2 mi away to West...some good local food besides Wendy's, McDonalds, and Burger King to east... Sheetz Gas/food to west and one is downtown Huntington. Seek out local food haunts. Good place in town to east of about 4 to 5 miles established in 1940vs...sorry place name not avalable at moment to enter, but local area chamber books etc in room will show you the way... Not to worry, but there are two prison facilities in town? And WELL guarded...didn't here a peep out if them after hearing of North New York Breakout this Sept, 2015......
Read moreTraveling with my younger sister for my older sister's funeral. We elected to stay in the same hotel we stayed in 27 years earlier for her 25th wedding anniversary. The web page showed it to be a good option for an affordable price. It did not offer breakfast but had a coffee pot in the room. This was our only complaint. My sister is very set in what she considers good coffee and has no problem traveling with her own. We always check for coffee IN THE ROOM because we have found not every place offers that option and if they don't, she will bring her own pot. What we found on checking in was what we needed, a stand-up comic to relax us and lighten our mood after a 9 hour drive in heavier that normal rush hour interstate traffic for most of it, without God's hand on it a 5 car pike up (ever single one of the 5 cars turned the only way that prevented it with two going off the road), badly marked exchanges causing two missed turns adding extra time and miles after dark. I wish I had turned on my video. I would have sent Dry Bar an audition tape on Chris. The only room available was a double on the ground floor right next to the office. I don't do stairs well so this was another blessing. And I travel with pillows and a large blanket because I need to sleep in an upright position with my legs elevated. The room had a very comfortable chair and ottoman. When our sister in Christ arrived the next afternoon we we able to invite her to use the empty bed. We were all three pleased with the comfort of our sleeping arrangements. There are newish owners. The rooms appear to have been refurbished as they have good internet, large refrigerator/freezer, flat screen TV and small microwave. No microwavable cookware. Most food comes package in microwavable containers. Water doesn't. Still on the quest of that first cup of coffee when you are used to rising at 5 am and the office doesn't open until 8 with the free coffee (which turned out to be drinkable- most people say good), Marsha in office had solutions for every question we had including loaning us her personal ceramic cup to heat water. With that we had tea we also travel with available. Both Marsha and Chris were off the next day and we were so pleased to meet Mrs. Owner (not her name. I am sorry, I forgot it). If you know someone in the area who is a willing worker, they are trying to hire...
Read moreFirst time here. As the person I’m staying with states when you first come it’s sketch and questionable but the rooms are just dates (leaving out some of how it was explained) Our room ended up being redone apparently it was worse when they were here last. But it’s a motel what do you expect Honestly I felt safe here. The night we checked in the gentleman was a gentleman inviting kind engaging it was very enjoyable to be the front. Second day before even asking my question the woman clearly shows She miserable hates to work Hates to be working her so if she was who we had checking in I had more sour taste in my mouth faster. I hope to never see her again I wish I had her name and the guys to praise the guy
However The room was gross. I couldn’t even pull my black light out I didn’t even want to know what else I would find Found literal garbage scattered through out the room and it shows cleaning wasn’t done. The beds had other people’s hair and odd fuzz on it hair everywhere cobwebs and this dust on the ceilings too. I couldn’t even get pictures I honestly just trying to not see it. Found giant huntsman or wolf spider in the room scared the heck out of us not sure how it got in but was put back out side If the room was cleaner it be a much better experience motel or not. And I’m sorry for the prices we paid clean the room. Again motel or not Yes they may have been the cheapest around but they were far from cheap still expect cleanliness
The tough call is I would come back but if I find the room not clean again room and bed garbage all around I’ll walk out
The restaurants around was a huge plus though woodys bbq was just absolutely incredible but...
