Flavor Isle — Restaurant in Smiths Grove

Love this place. I visited a few days ago as I was passing through the area. I came because of the luke foods review. The burger was very tasty, juicy with a great sear and plenty of cheese. The onion rings were awesome, notably they do not fall apart as you eat them, a clean bite everytime! They must have some trick to achieve this one-ness of onion and breading, but it raised the bar for onion rings, which I think are usually a sloppy mess. No idea why one recent review said the meat tasted "boiled"- the burger I ate had a really wonderful sear. In general the prices were great and the staff were very friendly and polite.They provide simple, good quality, hearty food at a fair price and with a smile. They deserve all the great press they are receiving and I hope they can make it another 75 years. Little eateries like this one are becoming more and more rare, despite being an important part of any nation and it's culture. There are no restrooms from the looks of it. There are no stairs to enter...

4 stars simply because they don't have a public bathroom or place to wash your hands. 5 stars for food. 6 stars for the folks who serve you. Bacon lettuce tomato cheese burger! Not a big burger but very tasty. We did tutor tots instead of fries. Perfect beef hot dog with ketchup mustard and relish. Sweet iced tea. Of course. Soft drinks with refills. Definitely. Ice cream! I scream. Delicious. This is a tiny place. Two cafe tables inside and a few scattered put door tables and a picnic bench...all clean.

Very nice folks running this place. Buccee's opens up the road later this June. Sure, they'll have some good BBQ and a thousand people. Hands down, THE BEST, restaurant to get a Double Bacon Cheeseburger and Fries!! That is the honest truth too. I have now had 2 of those orders, as well as their chicken rings and gotta say that there hasn't been anything that I haven't loved from The Flavor Isle. Hand made chocolate shakes too and you know that's actually a big deal to get. If you don't believe me, then try it fir yourself and if you live anywhere close, then you should know that they offer delivery, but if your traveling in the highway and looking for somewhere that's not a commercial restaurant like McDonald's, then this is most definitely the restaurant that you're looking to dine. There us a reason why they have been one of, if not the longest standing restaurants...
