Tasty Peru — Restaurant in Somerset

This place was clean and had good atmosphere. The only loss of a star on atmosphere was the large screen TV playing music and music videos. When we were seated the video had a female with some kind of fuzzy bikini. Most people will probably think the music volume was ok, but with my hearing aids amping up the music I had a hard time discerning the waiter's soft voice. My wife heard him fine. Now the 5 stars. The waiter was most friendly and personable. He was part of the family that owns the business and he was most excited to serve us and speak with us. He has great English and a nice accent. He made recommendations and explained any items on the menu we asked about. The food was amazing and filling. I had 1/2 chicken and it was fall off the bone and delicious as were the sauces that were brought out. The salad was different than American. It had carrots, beets, green beans, small white cheese squares, tomatoes, avocado and lettuce. The chicken fried rice was also good. The 3 milk dessert was smooth and delicious. Everything was cooked to order and to perfection. We will return. There were plenty of leftovers, so while the prices may seem high ( or maybe normal with today's economy) you get more than one meal for the dishes we ordered. Called prior, having never tried Peruvian I asked the wonderful gentleman on the phone what he would suggest as a first-time customer:

I got the 1/4 dark meat rotisserie chicken with a salad that was unlike (in the best way) any side salad I've EVER had, including a slightly spicy, herbed, creamy dressing, and fresh ingredients!

For take-away, I was given a generous portion that included fried green plantains (a savory side, among others) with a side of zesty sauce which paired quite well.

I fully suggest giving this establishment a try: didn't dine in, but everything looked super clean.

ABOVE all was floored by the level of customer service by the young man who helped me on the phone and happened to serve me when I picked up.

*Jefferson who served me suggested this amazing cream-flavored soda as a starter to the meal, and it was such a great flavor-pairing, go with it if they have it❤️

We ordered a whole rotisserie chicken for two adults and two small kids and it was “melt in your mouth good.” It was bursting with flavor and the kids loved it! We also ordered cassava fries that were better than French fries, red kidney beans, and fried plantains. It was all delicious and we had plenty leftover to take home! The waiter was so sweet and took great care of us. He said his mom was the chef. Each of our items we ordered came out one at a time (which he apologized for) but we just looked at it like it was a 5 course meal 😍 Speaking of which, he brought us an appetizer of traditional Peruvian popcorn and little cheese cubes, which appeased our kids until the chicken came. There were several yummy looking dishes, but if you love rotisserie chicken like our family, you won’t find any better!! Oh and the green sauce that came with the chicken was magnificent.
