Oriental House — Restaurant in South Amboy

ROBBERY LIKE PRICES, AND THEN YOU TASTE THE FOOD & YOU TRULY REALIZE JUST HOW BAD YOU WERE ROBBED! Unfortunately the place I order from was closed due to their Vacation! I've heard about Oriental House... So away I go to pik up dinner... As I sit & wait for my family's food I couldn't even begin to tell you how hot it was sitting there! The last time I was that unbelievably hot was Mexico's Cockfighting Fest 2016... Crazy CrAzY Hot! And DEFINITELY had better food there! FYI just dont ask what your eating... (Trust Me) 😆 Just kidding about the entire Cockfighting story! So after waiting in the sauna(aka) Oriental House for nearly 20 mins my order was finally up... 20 mins felt like an eternity! Make my way up to pay and BOOM 73 DOLLARS! 73 DOLLARS... WTF... We ordered 3 combo meals, that comes with 2 different items, a meat such as chicken, pork, etc etc & a type of rice, Usually a pork fried rice. Then dumplings, & a kids meal! NOTHING EXTRA! NO FREE SODA NO NOTHING! NOW YOU KNO ITS CHOW TIME! AND THAT EATING EXPERIENCE OF EATING THAT FOOD was ABSOLUTE DREADFUL! SMH... LET'S JUST SAY IF IM IN THE MOOD FOR ASIAN CUISINE, IMA TRY EVERY SINGLE STOP ABLE! DO YOUR SELF A BIG FAVOR & WALK PAST THIS PLACE AS FAST AS...

The only negative I have (and it’s a big one and has happened 4-5 times now), I order no onion in my pepper steak and they add a $2 extra meat fee. I didn’t ask for extra meat to compensate for lack of veggies , and I don’t like it added without it being acknowledged or even approved/denied.. really not okay with that decision being made without my knowledge of it and will say something next time..

However when it comes to the food? Do it. Our usual orders are a some kind of mix of chicken&broccoli, pepper steak, boneless ribs, sesame chicken, fried wontons… everything has been great every time. Been eating here with my family for over 10 years. Went in recently to pick up our regular order and was charged 20% more than usual. If you increase your prices dramatically, you should be making a positive effort to communicate that with customers before they are surprised at checkout. The quality to price ratio here was appropriate before. Now it is really out of skew and for these new prices, you could be eating some place locally a lot nicer. Really disappointed.
