May 3, 2014 we went here while hubby and I were visiting the area. Service was frustrating! The server was new...that is fine but when there are two servers and the seasoned server refuses to assist the new server then it is frustrating. We were the only guest at first needing to be served. My hubby has bad acid reflux so we do not eat beef late and we do not eat pork so he requested a chicken Philly omelette. It is made just like a Philly steak but with chicken instead of beef...the new server said the cooks could not make it the seasoned server said yes we can she doesn't know she is new. They could not and dis not make it. We thought if shebis new... then help her why don't you?!?...I mean is that not common sense. They went round for round in communication about whether or not they could make it. So we asked how much was it if we had chicken added into a omelette they said $4.59 so we were like no thank you make it a garden omelette. We were yelling across the restaurant because our new server was nervous and didn't know what to expect so she stayed at the register ringing up our food but still not knowing our full order. The seasoned employee never helped her.The new server messed up on two other orders of people that arrived after us...still getting no help from the seasoned server. So they (seasoned and new servers) were yelling across the restaurant at one another what to do on the register and never consulting us to confirm our order. She rang up a messed up order and gave it to us prior to us getting our food. WTF!?! She rang us up at a garden omelette for $5.99 toast which we were told would come in the meal that was a lie it was an additional $0.40 then I ordered a waffle with two eggs ($3.99) with a order of white eggs and grits ($1.79) then for extra waffles it was $1.99 so I had an extra and so did my hubby ($1.99). She got our order and brought my husband a omelette with ham in it. Garden omelette comes with veggies not pork or any other meat. My husband sent it back and said take it off I do not want any of it. They never fixed our ticket. When it came time to pay I went to them and said it is simple print a new tab they said they couldn't I said well you charging us for food we didn't eat. She (seasoned server) said I will call my manager so she calls and her manager focused on why another employee was there instead of the one who cooked it and hung up on her without resolving my issue then another employee called and she sent them to voicemail. BAD SERVICE BAD SERVICE AND BAD MANAGEMENT. WE PAID FOR S#!+ WE DIDN'T HAVE! AND THE EMPLOYEES CLAIMED IT WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. B$! I WOULD NEVER SUGGEST THIS PLACE BAD SERVICE AT A RESTAURANT MAKES...
Read moreNot much of an experience, my fiance and I went to celebrate Fathers Day. We expected pretty much everywhere to be busy but I'd never been to HH so that's what we decided on. Shes a SoBo native but hasn't been in years. When we arrived, the main door didn't open and had a sign that said "please use other door" no big deal--except the door you're supposed to enter in looks like an employee entrance and didnt have a follow up sign that could have said "this door!" So we wandered around the building until an employee on her smoke break directed us inside.
Once we're in we immediately see its busy--no worries at all. We were unsure if we should seat ourselves and only one booth was available so we walked down the aisle to the foyer and waited patiently. I saw 2 servers frantically getting drinks and taking orders-it looked like around half of the tables hadn't ordered food yet. I recognized the rush and empathized as I am from the restuarant industry myself.
However we were not once greeted by either of the servers that walked by us multiple times. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt considering the holiday circumstances but to not even be greeted is unacceptable. At one point the server stood directly in front of us taking a tables order, she could have easily turned around and acknowledged our existence. We could have been told to seat ourselves, or perhaps just given an update on how long it might take to get a table. Like I said we had no qualms about waiting because we wanted to eat breakfast together and this tiny town doesnt have many options.
Alas, we were continued to be ignored as servers bustled by. Not even a hello, eye contact, nothing. I saw no rhyme or reason, no direction, no leadership.
At this point 2 more parties walked in behind us and were all standing at different parts of the restaurant also being ignored. At this point we had been in the building for at least 10 minutes. That's a long time to go without being acknowledged by a staff member. So with much dismay, we walked back down the aisle to the back door- i thought maybe a last ditch effort to get us to stay would happen-though it did not. Maybe they were hoping we would leave since stuff had obviously hit the fan for them.
With such a bad first impression in such a short amount of time, I don't think I'll be giving it another shot anytime soon. Staff should acknowledge customers as soon as they come through the door, even if its just to say "hey it got crazy but I'll be with you soon!" Instead we were left hanging and hungry....
Read moreThey have good food. But basically they are the only place to get breakfast in town other than fast food and they are short staffed. The staff they do have is not very good. Most are lazy and slow and awful with customer service and working with the public. There were people waiting at the door just for a table to be cleaned off so they could sit down. There were 7 filthy in all when we came in. My husband and I decided to sit at one anyway because I have an injured foot. I sat and watched the entire scene with disgust at the lousy service by those waitresses. They are meandering around in no hurry to do anything they should be doing such as cleaning off tables so the people still waiting at the door 20 minutes later could even have a seat. And as one table every 10 to 15 minutes got cleaned off by the cook! Then the people sat and waited for another 20 minutes just to get a drink! It was confusion and chaos. The lead cook seemed to be the only one there with a great work ethic. He actually left his station to come and clean one of the 7 tables that were still sitting full of dirty dishes, and cleaned the table and got us our drinks and took our order and prepared our food. He deserves a raise!!! But seriously man I could have jumped up and did the job of all 6 women that were in there to supposedly work in 15 minutes myself. It was ridiculous. Those people absolutely need training!!! Hope the place is able to stay in business this time. The food is really good. But if they weren't the only place to go for a nice sit down breakfast , no one would ever go...
