Hidden Gem on Route 130 – Fantastic Food, Modest Ambiance
We recently decided to try out a new restaurant that opened in a nearby town, located right on Route 130 North. From the outside, the place has a rugged, unassuming look—not posh by any means—but it was clean and inviting.
Upon entering, we noticed a buffet in progress, offering unlimited dosa, idli, puliyogare, and more. However, we opted for à la carte dining and brought along a couple of wine bottles, as this place is BYOB.
The service was handled entirely by a single waiter, who was very pleasant and accommodating. It seemed like they had staffed lightly, likely anticipating most guests would go for the buffet.
We decided to indulge in appetizers, enjoying them with our wine, and go easy on entrées. Our choices turned out to be excellent! What We Ordered:
Gobi 65 – A deep-fried cauliflower dish that was crispy on the outside and tender inside. The seasoning had the perfect balance of spice and tanginess, making it a fantastic start to our meal.
Chilli Paneer – The paneer was cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside, yet soft inside, coated in a flavorful Indo-Chinese sauce. It had just the right level of spice and heat, pairing wonderfully with our wine.
Punugulu – These little golden, crispy dumplings made from rice and urad dal batter were a delightful surprise. They had a crunchy exterior with a soft, airy inside and were served with a delicious chutney that complemented them well.
Karivepaku (Curry Leaves) Potato Fry – A real standout! The potatoes were sliced perfectly, crispy on the edges, and infused with the earthy aroma of curry leaves. The seasoning was spot on, delivering a delicious combination of spice and crunch. This dish was one of our favorites!
Muttai Mass Spicy – This dish packed a punch! A bold, fiery preparation of eggs tossed with onions, chilies, and an intense spice mix. The flavors were robust, and it had just the right amount of heat, making it a perfect companion to our appetizers.
Masala Peanuts – This dish was decent but could have been better if the peanuts were fried a little longer for extra crunch. While it didn’t pair well with our wine, it surprisingly complemented the yogurt rice very well, adding an extra layer of texture and mild spice.
For the entrée, we kept it simple: Yogurt Rice – This comforting dish was creamy, well-balanced, and had a cooling effect after the spice-laden appetizers. The star of the show, however, was the pickle served alongside it—it had an incredible depth of flavor and added a punch to each bite.
Omelettes – Light, fluffy, and packed with herbs and spices, these omelettes were perfectly cooked and paired well with our yogurt rice.
To finish, we indulged in dessert: Double Ka Meetha – Simply superb! The bread was beautifully caramelized, soft yet slightly crispy, and soaked up the syrup perfectly. The only minor flaw was that the sauce was a bit watery, but the flavors were absolutely delightful. A fantastic way to end the meal!
Final Thoughts:
Food: Simply excellent—every dish was well-executed and delicious, with the exception of the masala peanuts, which could have been crispier, and the slightly watery sauce in the dessert.
Service: Average, mainly because there was only one waiter handling the entire restaurant.
Ambiance: Basic, but it worked for us, offering the privacy we needed.
Price: Reasonable, making it a great value for the quality of food. Overall, this spot is a hidden gem for those who prioritize great food over fancy décor. We’ll definitely be back for...
Read moreThere is something seriously wrong with this place. Zero stars. They don’t care about customers or repeat orders. Their policy seems to be "bring the customer to the restaurant and then keep them waiting."
We went for a Wednesday night unlimited Dosa event. They advertise unlimited Dosas, but the size is like a chapati—just for the event, not for regular orders. We arrived around 7:30 PM, but until 8:05 PM, no one came to take our order. When the waitress finally came, she took our order, and we continued waiting. We got one small dosa for my kid around 8:30 PM, and we were a party of four. Crazy!
I received the remaining three dosa plates around 8:45 PM, and after that, no one bothered to check on us. We kept waiting and waiting. I was so angry that I didn’t even eat my dosa. When I asked the waitress what was going on, she just stared at me with a blank face. I felt sorry for the waitstaff.
Finally, after waiting so long, we decided to leave the table around 9 PM. When I went to the billing counter, the chef came out to apologize and asked us to sit back down, promising to send more dosas.
After five minutes, we got four more chapati-sized dosas, but the same story repeated—no one came to ask if we needed anything else. By then, I had lost my appetite completely. The dosas we received were cold, indicating they were pre-made and just not being served promptly. They advertise unlimited dosas but make sure to serve limited food.
Surprisingly, there were only a few customers in the restaurant, which is very unusual for an unlimited event. They couldn’t even handle the small crowd, so I can't imagine how they would manage...
Read moreTruly a hidden gem. This will be my second review for this amazing Indian restaurant and to all the hard working people of this restaurant, who strive really hard to serve authentic food. We recently performed pooja at our home and we catered from The Park. Our catering menu was- Perugu/Thayir Vada, Mirchi Bajji, mixed pakora, mango pulihora, raw jackfruit biryani, mango dal, gutti vankaya, bendakkaya pakodi, Pom curd rice, paneer butter masala, veg noodles, sambar, gajar halwa with sabudana rabri, boorelu. Every dish tasted yummy, all the dishes had authentic and distinct flavor. I am not lying every single person including kids who ate the food were so satiated. Few people also took contact details to cater food for their upcoming parties/function. So happy to say this again, The Park has never failed to serve authentic yummy food. The Park should definitely be your to go place to eat/cater authentic traditional food as they do not follow short cuts while procuring the right ingredients and cooking. Thank you, once again!!! My first review-They definitely serve the most delicious food. If you crave for some authentic Tamil, Andhra food, then this should be your go to place. Thalapakatti chicken Seeragasamba biryani is bang on yummmm. Some of the we tasted are- Biryani, dhal varieties, chilli chicken, pepper babycorn, mutton gravy, chicken gravy, punugulu, qubani ka meetha all good good too good.
