I have no idea if the food is good since we never got a chance to order anything. My daughter and I walked in to give this a place a try and unfortunately we never made it to a table after I saw the kitchen staff handling prepared (ready-to-eat) cooked food with their bare hands. Not a single person working in the kitchen could be bothered to put gloves on while handling the ready-to-eat food. The girl working the front/cashier didn't seem to care at all (that's being generous - she was more rude than anything else) after I explained to her that the kitchen staff was handling food with their bare hands. I walked out of the restaurant and was completely puzzled by her lack of concern, so I stepped back in to ask for the manager and she pointed to the owner, who was working in the kitchen area as well. Yeah, pretty incredible the owner was right there with his kitchen staff the entire time.
The owner came over to me and I explained to him that his kitchen staff/cooks were handling prepared cooked food (ready-to-eat) with their bare hands. The owner didn't seem to care either. All he could do was answer yes to my questions and bob his head like a ventriloquist bobs the head of his dummy. He showed absolutely no concern his cooks/kitchen staff were not wearing any gloves. His entire demeanor was adversarial when it should have been apologetic. My final question to him was if he realized it was against state law to handle prepared (ready-to-eat) food with bare hands and his answer was yes. That is all I need to know regarding what the owner of this restaurant probably thinks about his customers.
Oh, we drove to the Waffle House right down the road for a quick meal and the cook had enough sense...
Read moreOur first waitress took our drink order, and then promptly forgot about us when a large group came in. Thankfully someone else asked if we had been served and we told them that someone had taken our order but we had not received it. We were then assigned a new waitress, who gave us our drinks quickly and took our order. I had a super sub and the person I was with had a patty melt both with onion rings. The onion rings were tasteless. The super sub was just regular bread like you could buy in the supermarket and the cold cuts were that off market brand definitely not boars head. Both of our dishes came with coleslaw, which neither of us ate as it did not taste good at all. We should’ve known from the moment we walked in as the place smelled like fish and a lot of perfume however, we could see a very large group of older women, and I attributed the perfume to them, but the fish scent was ridiculous. I’ve been in many a seafood restaurant and they don’t smell that fishy. Sorry do...
Read moreThe flounder and jumbo fried shrimp are pretty good. The hush puppies are delicious.
They put the fried fish on top of the popcorn shrimp so all the grease from the fish dripped into the shrimp and it was very greasy so I could not eat it. But the few that I did taste were pretty good. The fries seemed to be unsalted.
The macaroni and cheese is very bland so if you like flavor you will need to add seasonings. Unfortunately I did not eat the mac and cheese.
I was expecting the peach cobbler to be sweet, but it was not sweet at all. The peaches were not sweet either. So I ended up throwing it out. But If you prefer your peach cobbler to not have a sweet taste, then it is perfect for you. It has a good texture and crust to it. It's just not sweet at all.
Overall I would get food from here again because the food was fresh and some of it was very good to me. I like highly seasoned food so that's what my review is based on. If you are the same, I would suggest sticking to...
