Buckle up, folks, because I’ve got a story about Korean Speed Bowl in Greer, SC, that’ll make your taste buds do a happy dance! If you’re ever in the mood for a food experience that’ll knock your socks off, look no further.
Now, I’m no food critic, but let me tell you, this place is like discovering a secret treasure map, only instead of gold, it leads you to a treasure trove of flavor. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the kind of warm hospitality that makes you feel like you’re visiting your long-lost cousin’s house, only with a lot fewer awkward family photos.
The menu is a delightful rollercoaster of Korean cuisine, and I must say, it’s as colorful as a box of Crayola crayons! You’ve got your bibimbap, bulgogi, and kimchi galore. My taste buds were doing the cha-cha the whole time. I had the bibimbap, which, for those who aren’t in the know, is basically a delightful rice bowl mixed with all sorts of goodies like veggies, meat, and a spicy kick that'll have you shouting “YOWZA!” in no time.
And let’s not forget about the bulgogi – that tender beef marinated in a sauce that’s sweeter than a honey-dipped donut. It’s like a big, warm hug from your grandma, except if your grandma were a culinary wizard.
The ambiance? Picture this: a cozy spot where the decor screams "comfort" and "cool" with a splash of "hey, we’re here to have a good time." It’s like the diner down the road but with a Korean twist that makes you wonder why you ever settled for plain old scrambled eggs.
And let me not forget to mention the side dishes – they’re like the bonus tracks on your favorite album. From pickled radishes to spicy kimchi, each one is a delightful little surprise.
If you’re in Greer and craving a meal that’ll make you want to slap your knees and shout, “That’s what I’m talking about!” head on over to Korean Speed Bowl. It’s a flavor fiesta that’ll leave you grinning from ear to ear. Just remember to bring your appetite – it’s gonna be...
Read moreThis place was great!!! Had most, if not, All of the Korea dishes that have become so popular over the years. I ordered take out from this restaurant last night. Hour drive round trip. It was well worth the drive!!! 1st impressions as I walked up was how good it smelled. As I walked in I noticed how clean the establishment was. It was practically sparkling. Beautiful. Almost every seat was taken inside. I grabbed my food and asked a couple of questions because, it was my 1st time ordering Korean food. The lady at the counter was busy, but still so helpful and patient in answering me. I realized that I didn't order many sides with the spare rib andpork belly dishes I ordered. They were still provided for me. The carrot dressing given with every side salad reminded me of a honey mustard, very good. But instead of using it as an actual salad. I used the lettuce leaves and veggies to make little wraps of rice, kimchi, and meat. I've seen this done multiple times online. Everything was cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious. I've tried kimchi from other restaurants before with little success in liking it. I loved their kimchi!!! It might be a bit on the spicy side for some. But the flavor was there and it was balanced. The Huge Star, besides the pork belly and spare ribs, was the spicey marinated cucumber. It had a nice vinegar tang and the tiniest bit of spice that I could barely detect. But it brought a nice bright punch to the pork belly. All in all.. it was a wonderful experience and I will absolutely be back. Bonus points from me, which made this a 5 star: My boys (5&2) LOVED this meal. My 5 year old made lettuce wraps like I did. My 2 year old ate a little bit of everything. And they've both been known to be super picky eaters. I didn't feel like a bad mom feeding this to them because it was a balanced...
Read moreI drove to Greer for the sole purpose of eating at Speed Bowl - Korean Casual Bistro.
Here, you will find Tteokbokki, Korean ramen, several Gimbap with various fillings, a create-your-own bibimbap, and more. It is a small place with limited seating, but it has the most positive, comfortable vibe. So friendly and the food is made with love. It’s also a great spot to Shazam songs so you can add them to your K-Pop playlist.
I got the Samgyeopsal, which is grilled pork belly. Incredibly tender! So phenomenal! 🤤 I loved dipping it into the provided gochujang sauce for a sweet & spicy flavor. This dish came with rice (I got purple rice for an extra charge, tried it in Duluth and loved it), a side salad, spicy cucumber, and kimchi. I also wanted to try the Beef Bulgogi Mandu (Korean dumplings). Very crispy & flavorful and I can tell that these are homemade. 🥰 Needless to say, everything that you see in these photos was devoured and savored.
*As an added bonus, I included the Kimchi and Beef Bulgogi Kimbap that I got from a previous visit.
I really wish there was a Korean option closer to home, but I’ll happily go out of my way to eat here because it is...
