Throttle Down MC Group had a motorcycle lunch ride to Dukes BBQ in Walterboro and We absolutely loved it!!! The ride was a straight shot from North Charleston to Walterboro via US-17S and SC-64 (if you ever want a scenic ride on a sunny Sunday afternoon). There was plenty of spacious parking when we arrived but the local churches were letting out and soon the restaurant was filled with patrons. That's a very good sign as far as I'm concerned because an empty restaurant is a sign of bad service, uncleanliness, rude employees or just bad tasting food. In my humble opinion of course. The decor was rustic and homely like you would find at Grandma's house (including the loaf of bread on the table- who's grandma doesn't keep a loaf of bread around??) You didn't have to wear your Sunday's Best but you had to mind your manners. I was told that the food here was great and true to form, Dukes BBQ didn't disappoint. This was Southern Comfort Food at it's best! Home cooked no frills, no foo-foo-lah, just stick to your ribs eats. I chose the savory onion hash poured generously over white rice, collard greens with smoked turkey neckbones, fried okra, Pulled pork with hot mustard vinegar BBQ sauce, and Crispy Golden fried chicken and a scoop of the smoked sausage rice. If I wasn't in good company, I would have gone for seconds or thirds. Our friends were raving over the hush puppies, onion rings, sliced beets and coleslaw ( I was too afraid the main items were not going to fit on my plate so I didn't get any) Everything was well seasoned and well cooked. Wait staff was friendly, polite, attentive and kept a watchful eye on the food and supplies so no one is left there standing around waiting for utensils, cups, ice, etc. They also kept the buffet line clean of spills and waste. I highly recommend this Outstanding BBQ restaurant. I plan on returning in a car so I bring home some take out.

First time ever stopping at a Dukes BBQ. What a treat! By default it is a buffet, with a line of fresh hot and cold food right in front of the kitchen, however plates/baskets are also allowed and drive through is fast. Atmosphere was nice and every employee was warm and friendly. The hot food was hot and fresh and cold was cold, just like it should be. We came in outside of rush, which made it even more impressive. Desserts were marvelous, especially the deep dish strawberry shortcake. Two sauces were offered, mild and hot, both with a mustard aspect I believe, but not “just” a mustard BBQ sauce. Seems they’re known for their “hash”, which I asked about as I watched a lady ladle it on a bed of rice fora to go order. Made of pulverized potatoes and other things, it appeared almost like barbecue slaw. I tried it and it was not for me, but please form your own opinion as they’re known for their “rice and hash”! The Mac and cheese was moist, cheesy, and baked. Corn nuggets and onion rings were fresh and fantastic. All the usual southern flavored veggies were spot on! Dukes has been, and currently is, voted number one best fried chicken and pork barbecue in SC. I would have to agree! The chicken was high-quality, perfectly breaded and fried, hot, juicy, and amazing! The pork barbecue was EPIC…perfectly seasoned, smoked, and juicy, with little to no fat in the serving dish. My lunch buffet was $20 and my wife’s sandwich with sides ~$11. Definitely one of the best three barbecue I’ve ever had across the USA…and I have had many.

First, I love the atmosphere. It’s plain and simple with pictures of SC locations on the walls and a couple of ac units. Each table has salt & pepper, a roll of paper towels and a loaf of white bread. Clearly, the focus is the food. The current senior price for the buffet is $18. The workers keep the buffet line clean and well stocked and they prepare the to go boxes—and those look great with generous portions!! Customers can come in or drive through for pick up service. Each time someone drives up, you hear the bell sound that used to ring at service stations. So the food! It’s delicious! For me the center piece is the pork bbq—really good and so are the sauces. I haven’t tried the fried chicken but it looks good! My favorites are the green beans, black-eyed peas, homemade potato chips, hush puppies and pork rinds-awesome! A drink and dessert is included. I love unsweetened tea and theirs hits the spot. For dessert, I like a little more bbq and pork rinds. My table companion says the dessert is good. Like the billboards say-it’s real food and it’s good food! I look forward to the next time I’m passing through Walterboro.

I was making my way through South Carolina, where I was meeting my extended family there, but, to my seprise, I couldn't gosh darn find it, but then I saw a giant sign sent to me from the heavens that said 'DAVE'S BBQ HERE' And it was the most beautifully made sign I've ever seen! The atmosphere was so golly gosh darn good, that I had to go to the bathroom three times! This plac deserves a golly gosh durn five out outta five stars! When I got there, there was no Mac, sadly, and the corn bites tricked me into thinking they were Mac n cheese bites! Very sad, but it was worth the seprise, to have hot corn and corn juice instead of Mac n cheese!!!! 😭The kid friendly-ness was grate! There was a pig outside!! It was so great, I could have greated my cheese on it! 😀😀But, sadly, there was no cheese to be greated. 😭😭 When I got there, I noticed how much it's like my grammy-gram's house, always with a spare loaf of bread, nature's own. I even made an athsteticly pleasing capcute, but I don't know how toattach it to this!!! That bread was so golly gosh darn good, that I shed a tear. A tear of Mac and cheese longing!bso sad. In my time there, there was such a long line, and I was so happy that if this playce was this crowded, then this food must be good!/ I'm so happy my family and me decided to come here!!n!!!!! The story of how me and my family came here, is that me at my apartment was playing fortnite when suddenly, a package from the heavend once again! I have just received my egg hat from Amazone, but then I remembered that I lied to my neighbors to take any packages that I had received, because I lied that I was out of town, just because I didn't want to leave the comforts of my fortnite and the comforts of my beanbag. So then while I was trying it on, my parent face timed me, and said "oh my goodness! Oh my gosh! Wherever did you get that godly hat?" And I responded with, "Amazon, mother." She then told me where we were going for our yearly family reunion. I've never in my life heard of this magical bbq buffet, Dave's BBQ buffet! It was magical my first time, but then when I got there, it was even more magical. My final review is five for food, if I could to half stars, I would. Still sad about the Mac n cheese. Extra points for crisp chicken. Five for the amazing customer service, all because they pre-put ice in my drink! But, if I could put four-and-a-half stars on that one, I would, because my straw wouldn't go into my drink! Turns out that there's a place for non-pre-filled-with-ice-drinks, so five for that too, out of the kindleness of my heart. Five for the aptmosphere, because it reminds me of my grammy-gram. And finally, overall my score is a perfect five. I love thisplace !!!!!! ...

Been here I can’t say how many times. Unfortunately they aren’t consistent with their service, nor are they up front about policies prior to purchasing. This caused me, at four months pregnant to leave with no food at all despite it actually being paid for. Paid over $60 for 4 buffet and 1 to-go plate. I order a to-go plate each time we come (about once a month) since I’m pregnant and have horrible issues with acid reflux and indigestion and I’m only able to eat small portions at a time. It’s more affordable since there’s no way someone who has that medical issues can eat $16 worth of food from the buffet. Each time it was never an issue. This time AFTER it was all paid for they tell us “come back up when you’re done the buffet to get the to-go plate.” So I sat there for over 30mins while everyone else was able to eat. All the while throwing up acid in my mouth and having to swallow it because I needed to eat but couldn’t. Had the person actually told us the to-go plate wasn’t available until after everyone else ate we wouldn’t have stayed to avoid my getting sick. Then, after the kids and my other half finished eating we went back in line to get the to-go plate. Different person at the register who had no idea what we were talking about when we said we were picking up a to-go plate previously ordered. So, more waiting. Finally I said forget it and we left empty handed. Paid for it and didn’t even get it in the end. Absolutely ridiculous. Why was I not able to eat while I was there (or at all since we didn’t even receive the to-go plate in the end) all because I needed a to-go plate? The business owners didn’t think that one through I guess because I’m sure most people would’ve just ate off of the others plates as they waited. I didn’t tho so I left absolutely starving and sick to boot. By the time we got home I had to take my medication for my severe stomach issue since it was flaring up thanks to this incident, go lay down, and go to bed early since it’s another 35mins to even get home and I only ended up feeling sicker by the time we got back. Definitely not returning to this establishment. Maybe it doesn’t add up to much to anyone at this establishment because they have so many other patrons, but that’s close to $1,000/yr they’ll now lose since myself and family won’t be coming back. Worst experience/treatment I have ever had at ANY food establishment in my entire life. I wouldn’t even leave one star if I had a choice. However, they require you to at...
