A cheeseburger combo meal for my daughter - cheeseburger with mayo, mustard and ketchup - medium fries and a medium Dr. Pepper. A premium dog combo for me - NY dog, medium tater tots and a medium coffee for me. Total including tax was $13.07.
From the initial order - which had to be repeated several times - to cold and ill prepared food, tray 8 at stall 15 on Friday was just a bad experience at this Sonic Drive-In, located in Walterboro, South Carolina.
In attempting our order, it had to be repeated several times. I tried ordering the Chicago Dog - which was advertised on the menu as well as on posters directly in front of the stall - the cashier advised that Sonic didn't sell the dog any longer. Moving from Chicago to New York, I ordered the NY dog combo, which included tater tots and a drink. I choose coffee - which turned out to be a Green Mountain blend.
My daughter ordered the cheeseburger combo with fries and a Dr. Pepper. Her cheeseburger was ordered with mayo, mustard and ketchup.
Food was cold upon delivery, very unsightly looking and generally inedible. Coffee was luke warm and nothing to write home about. I ended up dumping my entire meal while my daughter ate a few bites of her burger. Have you ever looked at a meal and said "I'm not eating that" before dumping it straight in the trash? That was my meal.
No pride in appearance at this location. It was unsightly with trash and other garbage strewn about the premises. Not a good experience.

Read moreWe parked. I ordered at stall #16. I ordered a BLT, small onion rings and large Dr. Pepper. The lady that took my order was pleasant. I paid and then waited for my order. After 30 minutes a runner came by and we asked him to check on my order. He said he would. Came back about 10 minutes later and said it was coming out of the kitchen. It showed on the screen it was still in the kitchen then changed that it was on its way. Waited 15 more minutes for it to come. I got out and went to the door. A runner came out saying there were only 3 people working and sorry for the wait. I went back to the truck. The male runner came by again and said it's on the way. Then comes back and tells me my order was "lost". I asked for a refund. Then he comes back again and said your order was through the app so I would have to request my refund there. I said No, I ordered from right here. Once again requested a refund. Waited 15 more minutes then got out and went to the door. Someone finally came to say that the "manager" was getting my refund. Needless to say, I waited over an hour and received no food and no apology for the wait or inconvenience. If you don't have enough staff to work then you shouldn't be open. Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it. I love Sonic food and am very sad that this is the service I received today. Will have to think long and hard...
Read moreSo I visited this Sonic one night(Sept. 1st) with family after leaving a wake of a loved one and preparing for a funeral the following morning. We were hungry and the kids choose Sonic and thatâs where we went. Well after placing my order the machine auto defaulted to a tip of $99.00 bring my order to over $140 on a $41.00 order. I hopped out of my car and dashed to the front station and explained what happenedâŚTyler, and employee there was so patient and kind, and lucky for us the new owners where just across the way, because they had just took over that same day. They were very kind and understanding. They also explained that they are working with a new system and they are working on the problem as we speak. And for my troubles complimented us a free meal for the evening. Tyler gave me a return receipt for the purchase as confirmation and my family and I were well feed to push thru the obstacle ahead. And yes everything was fresh and tasty, my dad is a pic-key eater but finished his food before we got back to our hotel. Thank you to the new owners, much luck on your new journey and to Tyler for such great customer service, when we are back in town we will...
