Being from out of town we accidentally let time get away from us. The resort's restaurant was closed on Tuesday (how weird) so we had to look for a place to eat. Everything was closing within 30 minutes. I came across The Islander. It sounded innocent enough. When we got there, we realized it was indeed a BAR and grill! Our party was 6 adults and 3 children (two 11 yr olds and a 17 month old). I asked if they could be served. We were graciously invited in. We made a table for 6 work for us and got menus and drinks. That's when IT happened! Someone who got kicked out refused to go and the lady behind the bar physically made him move!! Small scale bar fight complete with all the words lol!!! She got him out and he came back accusing her of stealing his keys. She got him out again. A few minutes later someone came and got him. The food was fantastic! The server was perfect! The place was adorable! And the baby's Sunday School teacher says he can undo everything I did by taking her to a bar when he sees her next Sunday...hahahahaha!! We had a great time!!! And my 11 year old grandsons will have the best "what did you do over the summer stories" when school goes back in...
Read moreOut of a LOT of places I’ve been too… this place is a safe heaven for everyone, no matter who you are. The food is amazing, which I recommend the islander burger(most importantly), the wings (75¢ on Thursday), the quesadilla and the grouper fish fry on Friday. The bands they hold are awesome sauce too. The owners are really cool/friendly, amazing to talk and so fun. Machelle and Dan are owners I wish others would follow in example. The bartenders are top self. They always take care of you no matter how busy it gets. Hannagrace is a strong and caring soul who will always get to you no matter how thick the crowd is. Derek (the brains of operations lol) works in the shadows but you’ll see him in the daylight working his magic behind the bar, always attentive and respectful. Jay is a man of respect and all around fun guy. Courtney is a fun-one, always friendly and funny. The kitchen staff are so great at making food, you’ll always leave happy and not hungry. J behind the kitchen is always cooking up something that’ll leaving wanting more and a very down to earth human. The place has a a lot of respect for veterans so please come and see for yourself. Hell,...
Read moreUsed to love coming home and going to the der. It has been a family favorite for as long as I can remember but now unfortunately I will not be returning if Hannah is bartending. I would also not suggest going to this bar if you are in your 20s and from out of state because since I moved to Kentucky and now I have a KY ID… and she has no idea how to read an out of state ID. The soon to be owner scanned my ID after Hannah said it was a fake and it of course checked out because I am 24 years old. The owner said she has to go by what Hannah’s EYEs determine. Even though I was with friends that she accepted their IDs and multiple people validating for me. She was extremely unprofessional and rude. I...
