I used to go to LaFogata quite a bit years ago but times got hard and I hadn't been in 5 or 6 years but I wanted to treat my son to dinner a couple weeks ago and we both love Mexican food and La Fogata was nearby so we went there for dinner. It started off bad from the beginning, when I tried one of the chips the waiter dropped off at our table...It was too thick and tasted as though it had been fried and then fried again to rewarm either that or it was fried in dirty grease that needed to be changed out really bad...just had a bad dirty grease taste so I decided to pass on the free chips even though normally I go through 2 baskets of the free chips from Mexican restaurants because at most restaurants they're great...but definitely not here on this day.. Then I decided to order the same thing I always order when I go to Mexican restaurant- Steak Fajitas because it's the one thing I can always count on to be good no matter which Mexican restaurant I go to...but....not today...They arrived sounding good as usual but I noticed there was an awful lot of onions, peppers, and big chunks of tomato but I was starving so I dug in and quickly made me a mini burrito with the flour tortilla that came with them and I took a bite and as I chewed I noticed that I must have grabbed a bad piece of steak because I couldn't chew it up because there was a tough piece of fatty griddle in it so I took a napkin and removed it from my mouth and I took another bite....same thing, fatty steak...and the 3rd bite was also fatty grissel..so then I stopped trying to eat the burrito I had made and instead tried picking a piece straight off the cast iron pan in front of me...it was just a piece of fatty steak as well, I think I may have tried 2 or 3 more pieces and it was all the same, all fat with very little tender meat and considering there was very little pieces of meat to begin with in that pile of tomatoes, onions , and bell pepper I was served...I just gave up and didn't try again.I had also ordered a chicken tostada just to try to see if I liked it so I bit into it and it tasted just like the free chips they had brought to my table to start this meal off, I couldn't tell if I liked the chicken inside because the overwhelming taste of dirty grease drowned out any other flavors so by then I knew I was going home hungry but I just wanted to see my son happy with his dinner cause he was the main reason I decided to eat Mexican that night but I noticed he wasn't eatung his Chicken nachos he ordered and when I asked him why he said there was onions on his nachos and he hates onions.I asked if he wanted me to send them back but hes kinda shy and doesn't like to draw attention and gets embarrassed easily so he said no...so there we both sat with our plates barely touch and both our stomachs still empty. I was so disappointed but I was just ready to go so I told the waiter, which I think may have been the owner of the restaurant because he was older and dressed more like an owner would be dressed, that I was ready for my check, so a couple minutes later, he came to my table, which still had 2 plates of food that you could tell had barely been touched at all, even my drink was still full, and instead of asking if there was something wrong with our food since it hadn't been touched and no to go box was requested, he asked me how much tip did I want to add to the check that he would go ahead and take it out when he cashed out my ticket...I was speechless and honestly too shocked at what he had asked to even start to ask for my food to be taken off the ticket...I just paid the bill and left because I had never experienced such a terrible meal at a Mexican restaurant before and then to have the waiter be unconcerned that we had not eaten any of our food but to only be concerned how much tip Id like him to take off my credit card...just put the service I received into the same category as the quality of the food- AWFUL...so when all was said and done..I paid $50 to just look at a meal...

Read moreBest Mexican food in Anderson. Great service. I have been eating here for at least 20 +years and I have always had great service. They are very customer oriented and accept customers feedback and have been very responsive to any questions or complaints I have ever brought to their attention. If I ask them for something that I may have tried at another Hispanic restaurant they have always tried to replicate it and usually hit it right on the head and most of the time they make it better. Since my son was about 13 he’s always requested to have his birthday dinner along with other celebrations at this restaurant and after 7 years he will still request the service & food from here. I would recommend it for you & your family. Keep up the great service and as always Thank you Amigo and will...
