First time visit was ok, good service and good food. The ambiance is poor, ghostly lighting. Easy and cheap problem to fix given all the lighting options available but for some reason it's not addressed. Made a 2nd visit for lunch and was disappointed. over crowded, sat me at the bar with another person where it would be roomy enough for three people, but then they sat 3 more people....5 people then its basically thigh to thigh with no elbow room...like sitting in an airplane coach seat. Food took awhile to come out, no coffee ( wasn't even an attempt to make any, mengya, get a kurig!). Ordered huevos rancheros, eggs tasted like fish, must have shared a pan with a fish order. I didn't mention it, consoling myself that a little fish oil could be healthy option. All that aside, the biggest disappointment was the additional ~ 8% charge for using my charge card. Wha?? you can't just add things to the bill without making it clear to the customer that there will be an added charge. Maybe it was noted on the menu somewhere......really needs to be in big bold red letters on the front of the menu. We are seeing a trend in this respect....like the gas stations that put on their sign REGULAR $2.79, but when you get to the pump and use your card its actually $2.89. Then you notice the little print on the sign that says CASH. Now the restaurant being so overcrowded on both my visits doesn't seem to justify a need to add that additional fee....the place was full. Most will say "covid hit the restaurants bad so let 'em have it". To those I say "you give it them for both of us, b/c I won't be going there anymore". Here's a suggestion: put a jar at the cash register counter that says "covid recovery fund, any donations by our valued guests are sincerely appreciated" Behavioral sciences show that this approach will bring in more $$ than adding...
Read moreMild or Spicy? We like it spicy! This is our favorite local Mexican restaurant, with plenty of options to choose from on the menu. Come for great food and service. As flexitarians, we prefer restaurants that serve great vegetarian and meat dishes. The mushroom quesadilla and Molcajetes are classics and two of our favorites, but we come specifically for the rice and beans, unparalleled flavor! (and an extra order 'to go' too, please!). The basic hot sauce is fantastic, savory but mild. We spice ours up with a (special order) side of El Diablo sauce. Warning! Higher than Thai Hot #5! Improper use may incapacitate you or destroy your taste buds! This is a creeper; exercise caution the first time you try it or "you're gonna regret it"; it's a very stealthy Picante Caliente! Great if lightly mixed with the primary hot sauce or added gently to your favorite dish to taste. For an special treat, ask for chiles toreados. (roasted jalapeños) and use a knife to scrape and toss away the bitter skin, pith and seeds of the pepper, and enjoy the rest. Or if you like it hotter, leave the pith and seeds or...
Read moreThis was the WORST mexican restaurant I've ever went to. I would have been better going to taco bell. The food wasn't very good (it was very salty and overpriced for what you get),and it was mediocre at best. The waiter (ebur or something close) was probably the unfriendliest waiter I've ever met. I ordered a regular menu item and when I enquired about something that was supposed to come with the meal but was not there he rolled his eyes and got upset. He was very confrontational and seemed extremely annoyed when all I was asking for was sour cream and lettuce! I'd read other reviews saying that they don't always give you what you ordered but decided to try them anyway. It was a big mistake! When I checked out the woman asked me how everything was but she didn't really care. She didn't even apologize. TAKE YOUR...
