Noel and I stopped in at Elephant Thai for lunch. We were greeted and seated immediately which I like. Then she took our drink order, Noel had water and I ordered Half-Half Iced Tea but it was really sweet.

Noel and I both had Miso Soup to start with which was very good and very hot. Then we were served our Veggie Spring Rolls (my favorite) with Thai Plum dipping sauce and Gyoza (pork deep fried dumplings) with a brown soy based dipping sauce.

Noel went with a Bento Box that included Shashmi ( tuna three different ways) some Raw Tuna Rolls (three different ways) seaweed salad with yum yum sauce drizzled on it and a spicy tuna sushi roll. I chose the veggie sushi roll...so much delicious food. We were very happy with our choices!!!

My daughter Noel and I went to a "New to Us" restaurant in South Charleston, WV called "Thai Elephant" & we were so happy that we did. We got there about 11:15am shortly after they had opened after enjoying a little shopping next door at Asian Market. The place is decorated soft and clean, a few booths and tables, pics on wall from Thailand, a plant in corner...very clean looking and beige! We were greeted, sat in a booth and she took our drink order as she left menu. Noel went with Beef Drunken Noodles, Sprite to drink and Shrimp Egg Rolls. I chose the Chicken Pad Thai, Veggie Summer Spring Rolls and Coca Cola. Our food was delivered promptly, made fresh and the aroma was heavenly. I did have to ask for chili paste to add some spicy to my dish. The Veggie Rolls arrived with a delicious spicy plum sauce and equally great peanut whipped dipping sauce with pine nuts...(I would have loved to had some fried plantains for that peanut sauce) The food was great! The service was great! Prices were fair and portions were large! Definitely would go again and recommend fir you to try out yourself!!! Let me know what you ordered and...

I had previously been to the Elephant Thai Restaurant for a weekday lunch break with a friend who eats there fairly often. We both enjoyed the food & thought Hubs would like it for a change of pace as well.

The restaurant was only semi-busy when we arrived a little after 4pm on a Sunday. We were immediately told we could not sit in a booth as preferred for some unexplained reason. We later found out (just before we finished eating) this was due to several prior reservations taking up those spaces. Our wait to order & for the food to arrive seemed a little longer than usual, but it finally arrived.

Our friend ordered Basil Chicken, which is spicy & she is used to eating. When it arrived, her meal had only 2 very small pieces of basil in it, which was not what she was used to. So she asked for some more & an untrimmed 3"-4" piece of stem on a saucer was dropped off on our table as the server quickly walked past us. Our friend had also asked that the spice be slightly reduced, but it was almost too spicy for even her to eat &, trust me, she really likes spicy foods!

At my friend's recommendation, I ordered Chicken Pad Thai since I like rice noodles & it isn't a spicy dish. My meal was barely lukewarm when it arrived & the noodles were all stuck together in a large, orange colored clump in a very cold to the touch bowl. The flavor was rather unimpressive, imho.

Hubs had the sweet & sour pork which he liked. It looked more like a soup in the bowl due to all the extra sauce, but he enjoyed the flavor. It wasn't too spicy & it arrived at a proper temperature. So I guess the score for the meal that day was 1.5 out of 3.

We were there about 1hr 15min. By the time we left, practically every table & booth, and the sushi bar seating in the back was filled. They definitely needed more wait staff on duty even if it was...

Very unprofessional. They let two other groups who came after us have tables. We went in and put our names down before anyone. Two other groups came later after us (we were next to be seated). But they seated the groups that came in later after us. We went in to ask and let them know nicely and were walked to a table to only be told the party that came after us was actually getting that table (after already walking us over to table that they were still cleaning). We were treated with disrespect and talked down to for no reason. They were unprofessional and unorganized. It’s not okay to talk down to us and tell us to leave when we ask a question and bring up what happened. Not fair to us for their lack of planning and not knowing how to seat people. We were not rude and only asked/brought up what happened. Even if they let a bigger party have the big booth, they still let a party of two (less than our party) have a table they literally walked us to. If you’re trying to give us a table that’s smaller and we keep waiting and waiting. We could be there for over an hour and they’d let other people go who came in way after us have a table? That’s not fair to make someone wait that way because the host is confused and doesn’t know how to seat people. And then to have another coworker come over and instantly tell us we can leave. Anyone should be allowed to ask what’s going on without being attacked. If you have a specific policy then it should be told to customers which never happened. Don’t harass customers who simply...

Just staying in Charleston overnight and found this place poking around on the internet. It is a small place in an artsy looking part of town. Parking is limited so walking may be involved. We arrived about 5:00PM on a Tuesday evening. We were greeted promptly and taken to a table. After that, the service slowed quite a bit as they got busier. We practically had to beg for the check. The food definitely made up for the leisurely service. My spouse ordered the Hawaiian roll. Such a beautiful plate presentation, and the roll itself was delicious. Very fresh tuna in the roll, and it came with a side of the “good” ginger – yellow not that weird pink stuff. I ordered the salmon poke. Again, nice presentation. The poke contained sticky rice, fresh salmon, edamame, pickled daikon radish, radish, and some type of shrimp like sauce. Again, very delicious, and I devoured the entire thing. BTW - they make the best sticky rice we’ve ever had, and we’ve been around. Definitely give this a try!

2 out of the 4 of us enjoyed our meals — the stir fried garlic shrimp was delicious and the sweet & sour chicken was also a winner. Nothing wrong with the prik khing — this was just his first time having Thai food and it was a bit different (and spicier!) than he was expecting. The other person ordered pad see ew and found it to be too dry. Our waitress was very good at first, but then she just kind of started ignoring our table toward the end of our meal and we had a difficult time getting her attention to get our check. The restaurant is very noisy, which happens in a small space like they have, but the worst part is the chimes they have hanging on the front door. They are so high-pitched and ear-piercing that every time someone would enter or leave, we'd be sitting there cringing and wondering why a place that small feels they need such an obnoxiously loud signal on their door.

We tried Elephant Thai for the first time today and it was really excellent. We ordered takeout and the food was hot and waiting for us when we arrived. Everything we got was well prepared and delicious. The beef Drunken Noodles had excellent flavor and a little spice that went very well with everything. The gyōza was crispy and the filling was great. The best thing we got though I think was the tuna chips. It was a simple dish but very flavorful and we both really liked them and wished we got more. I'd definitely recommend trying Elephant Thai out if you haven't yet.
