Main Tin Restaurant — Restaurant in South Charleston

I specifically ordered two orders of steamed dumplings and I received fried dumplings. I called back to the restaurant and the person on the phone argued with me said that I had ordered fried dumplings and it was the same person that I had spoke with when I ordered my meal. I inform them that somebody must have put the order in incorrectly. Every time I call in I always ask for Steamed dumplings which is number 8 on their menu and you have to specify steamed or fried when you call this in and I did. . I never ask for fried. And I was embarrassed to say the reason I asked Steamed dumplings is because I recently had all of my teeth pulled out. I have no teeth I cannot eat anything fried and their steam dumplings are delicious. I asked to have another order of STEAMED dumplings delivered to me and they refused. I said I just ordered $86 worth of food from you.. I order almost $100 of food every month! But now you'll never receive any more of my business. I've always tried to keep my business in South Charleston but not anymore...

EDIT: AT 3:15 P.M. THIS AFTERNOON 1/ 12/22, THERE WAS A KNOCK AT MY APARTMENT DOOR. UPON OPENING THERE STOOD AND EMPLOYEE OF MAIN TIN HOLDING A SMALL BROWN PAPER BAG THE CONTENTS THEREOF WERE TOO SMALL BOWLS OF STEAMED DUMPLINGS. THE ORDER OF WHICH I MADE LAST NIGHT. THE MAN MADE AN APOLOGY FROM THE RESTAURANT AND GAVE MY CAREGIVER THE BAG. HE TOLD THEM THAT THIS WAS FREE AND HE WAS SORRY FOR WHAT HAD OCCURRED LAST NIGHT. THEN HE WALKED AWAY. IT'S NOT CAREGIVER BROUGHT ME THE BAG AND HE SAID I THINK YOU JUST RECEIVED AN APOLOGY! 😇

I was looking for a new Chinese restaurant that delivered . I live several blocks from a place that I have been ordering from for about 20 years . I've had one too many disappointments with them lately and proximity alone isn't a reason for me to keep patronizing them. I asked for recommendations on a restaurant review page that I follow and they suggested Main Tin. I also heard glowing reports about an employee named Isaac. I called to place my order, I heard a pleasant voice and I had to ask, "is this Isaac?" He assured me that it was. I asked if they delivered on New Year's Eve. They did. I placed my order.. Let me tell you, Isaac and yes, the food were both wonderful! Everything arrived hot , the portions were generous and the prices reasonable. They even have one of my favorite dishes that I can rarely find in the area other than on a buffet: Black Pepper Chicken! I was so happy when I saw it! And it was some of the best I've ever had . My boyfriend ordered the General Tso. Of late, the other places have more breading than chicken. He has actually had empty pieces of breading with zero chicken. Not so at Main Tin! There were generous pieces of chicken with every bite! And Isaac more than lived up to the hype! He was kind and attentive. We got 2 menus, condiments without asking and FREE fortune cookies. Sadly, they aren't added to orders from some restaurants without an additional charge any longer. I think we have found our place for Chinese food! As someone else mentioned recently, this place used to be fantastic. For years I have ordered the black pepper chicken, but requested fried rice instead of white rice. This request has always been accommodated and it’s never been an issue. The last two times I’ve ordered here (a couple months ago and then this evening) a frustrated sounding gentlemen answered with a “please hold” then I spent a solid ten minutes listening to him argue with another customer. He then tells me I can only get fried rice if I actually order a fried rice from the menu. When I asked “okay bud If I order the fried rice am I still going to get my white rice that comes with the order?” He told me no and I just got frustrated and ended the interaction there. Isaac was always really awesome and this guy will run the place into the ground if they don’t take care of it. I can’t imagine people will continue to go there if he’s the face of the restaurant. I won’t be ordering here again until I know Isaac is back, or he is gone. Terrible experience from an otherwise always awesome restaurant. I’ve gone here for nearly two decades with no issues.
