You may be reading this and think to yourself "who leaves reviews for fast food places?", and yeah I get it, it's just another McDonald's. The thing is, all locations are absolutely not created equal and the good, bad, and ugly should be pointed out from time to time.
I think we all can agree that post Pandemic, fast food experiences are at an all time low, and believe me I have had my share of pretty terrible ones. However, my experience eating at this particular location was the complete opposite of terrible. I do want to first and foremost mention that I am only speaking on my experience with the drive thru here as I have never actually been inside.
This particular McDonald's in located in a very busy and thriving part of small town South Lyon. Nestled within a myriad of other eateries, grocery stores, and other retail shopping. It's very conveniently located and as you may know Pontiac Trail can get very, very busy at times. That might actually be my only complaint about this location. During peak times, it can be a real pain trying to get in and out of here because of how busy the surrounding area gets. Luckily for you, there is a little short cut at the back of this parking lot that connects to the much bigger parking lot where all of the retail places and shops live. If you keep going far enough, you will eventually make it to a point where you can get out into traffic at a stop light, so you won't have to keep battling traffic coming at you every which way as you would trying to get out of McDonald's the normal way.
Okay enough about parking lots and traffic. Service here is relatively quick (though I am sure it gets backed up during peak dining times), and the staff is polite, friendly, professional, punctual and accurate. I received my order very quickly and what I ordered was actually in the bag (imagine that). Not only was my order correct, but my nuggets and fries were piping hot like they were prepared for my order and hadn't been sitting around under a heat lamp for 2 hrs. To be completely honest, this is far beyond what I've come to expect from a post pandemic McDonald's trip, so to say that I was rather delighted would be an understatement.
When all is said and done, I stopped here expecting a rather subpar experience, and wound up having myself a very delightful lunch. If you're in the neighborhood, I wouldn't hesitate stopping for...
Read moreI got a job here in May of this year, my first day was the 2nd of May. From the 3rd until the fifth I was spoken to with attitude by the person 'training' me, until on the fifth I told him I didn't deserve to be spoken to in such a manner, following him yelling at me loudly enough for customers to hear it, and that I'd leave and go home if he continued to speak to me in such a manner. The manager who was an arms length away from him at the cash register then yelled at me also, telling me to go home. I left and reported the incident to corporate, for which I have screenshots and email responses regarding. I was terminated without even being told my employment had ended and now they are refusing to tell me when I will be compensated for the hours I worked for the first week of May. I thought the reviews on here were isolated incidents, but came to see that all of them are regular occurrences. The managers and the general manager speak to all the employees, including the minors still attending high school, with rude tones and by yelling at them, as if that is an acceptable way to treat employees, whether new to the work...

Welcome to the South Lyon McDonald’s, where the fries are cold, the sodas are flat, and the flies outnumber the employees.
I walked in and was immediately greeted by a buzzing cloud of houseflies that were clearly long-time residents. One was sitting on the counter like it was waiting for its McFlurry to be fixed from 2019. Another one tried to fight me for my hash brown. I lost.
I braved the bathroom, thinking how bad could it be? Let me tell you, it’s less a bathroom and more a biohazard-themed escape room. The smell alone knocked the will to live out of me. The toilet paper was either stolen, disintegrated from age, or absorbed into another dimension. And the floor? Wet. Don’t know why. Didn’t want to ask. Left with my dignity mostly intact.
Even the Happy Meal looked like it had PTSD.
