I love Jamaican food, and I have to say Caribbean tastes as up there among the best. I love the oxtails with peas and rice, and the Curry Goat, just so amazing. If you have never had oxtail, or are scared of food you aren't used to, just try it, it is beef and when cooked right it melts in your mouth it is so tender, also don't be afraid to suck the marrow and sauce from the bone, and that chewy connective tissue is absolutely amazing, get your fingers messy it is 100% worth it. Couple this amazing food with some of the nicest people ever, and you have why Caribbean Taste is among the best places to eat in South Portland. Like getting food cooked by your mom (if your mom was Jamaican), it feels like being at home and eating with family.

Mouth warming and life giving flavors on that jerk chicken!! So thankful I stopped by and was able to get a plate of your jerk chicken with a plentiful portion of rice and beans, and a colorful/cooling pasta salad with a quarter of avocado which, for me, was perfect to balance out the herbs and spices in the jerk. Honestly I can’t wait to come back again for these warm flavors especially to offset the cold of this snow!! And I love all the different flavors of tropical rhythm juices you carry as well!!

I honestly didn't expect this. I live in Florida and find it hard to believe that I found more authentic Jamaican food in Maine! The rice & peas and jerk chicken with raw veggies meal is so delicious 😋 Curried goat is not easy to make but this one is awesomely tasty.

Walking in your greeted with the most delicious smell coming from the kitchen. They provide sanitizer at the door & register, tables are spread apart for indoor dining & Parking is always a plus! Staff was very friendly and explained items I didn't know. Certian items have a short wait but its worth it for them fresh plantines & festivals, so so good. My chicken soup was amazing, very comforting & filling. Also carry a wide cellection of cold beverages; coke products, juices, & other.

** To Jason & anyone else wondering; the bones & spiced being left in is totally normal. A lot of cultures do this, don't worry just be aware. Trust, meat is way more tender & flavorful this way.

My family loves Caribbean Taste! We have eaten here multiple times, both take out and eat in and even a large order to feed a group. Our food has always been fresh - the jerk chicken is spiced nicely and cooked perfectly. It has a little kick to it and the adults love it, but a quick rinse and the toddlers love it too. Also, A+ for the plantains. I crave them all the time. The atmosphere is no frills, but take a minute to talk to the family and you’ll be right at home. My kids love it because there is lots to room to run around while we wait for the food...
