First time and last time for sure! Food was horrible in presentation and taste. I had a mojarra frita(fried fish) in garlic sauce. They use the chunky garlic in a jar which is so over powered and the butter sauce was super salty the fish was not done all the way it was raw on one side. The rice was just plain white no flavor at all. The salad had no dressing. It also came with french fries which they were all in a clump stuck together in chunks. My husband had Fajitas boy that was swimming in grease. We used so many paper towels to soak that grease up, the steak was so over cooked it was so dark and dried out. No flavor at all no seasoning or salt veggies were over cooked too. The tortillas were dipped in some kind of black oil or the grease of the fajitas. Some businesses think grease is what gives flavor to the food. But it's all in the herbs, seasonings what makes a perfect dish .I was kind of surprised how they serve them with no beans, guacamole, pico, sour cream or even the mexican rice. It came with same plain white rice and plain lettuce salad. Not sure about other people but fajitas are sure not served that way. Chilis does a better job on their fajitas!! We had a bad experience and will not be coming back for sure. Expensive for the kind of food they serve. Service sure wasn't the best either. Another thing didn't like is that they don't give you a ticket at the table you have to go to the register to pay and they only tell you the total. I don't like that I want to see what I'm getting charge for. The lady wasn't very happy when I question what exactly i was paying for. We paid almost $40 dls The only thing it was good was the 2 coronas my...
Read moreA friend of mine and I went to La Isla for lunch. I was a little bit skeptical of the promise of a Mexican restaurant that specializes in seafood. Boy was I surprised. We started off with the Shrimp Empanadas. The smaller order came with 4 decently sized empanadas. I would wager that they were homemade and fried perfectly. The filling was tasty with a little bit of spice. The shrimp empanadas were also served with a spicy mayo sauce. The sauce complimented the empanadas very well.
For the main dish, I ordered the seafood paella. Per the waiters suggestion, I ordered the small size. It was only like $17 so I did not have very high expectations. After eating our appetizer, they brought out my seafood paella dish. This wasn't a small dish, it was a platter. The portion of the paella was huge and the seafood in it was delicious. I still can't believe they put that much seafood in it. My paella had crab legs, mussels, clams, peeled shrimp, unpeeled shrimp, scallops, and octopus.
The paella was a little bit spicier then I thought it would be, but next time I will just ask for it with a bit less spice. I ate as much of this seafood smorgasbord as I could, but I could not finish the whole dish.
I will definitely be back again trying other things...
Read moreDecided to go in to the Isla since it been a while since I've been there. They took my order and were very friendly at first. Though once the food came out I noticed that my dish was wrong and I informed them of this. Then when the manager came over she didn't even give me a solution. So I asked for rice on the side since I wanted the paella instead of the food they had given me. Not only that but during most of that time a server ever came to our table after I corrected them. Didn't even tell them the error in a harsh way. Plus on top of that the staff talked with each other and didn't attend the customers well. When I went to go check out I asked if I would be paying the price of the paella and they said no. Not only that but no one knew how to add things to our bill when we went to go pay. It seemed like no one was trained there and they are just paying people to stand. Also the food wasn't the best. I got some paella for my spouse and the rice was overcooked and the mussels had hard sand bits on them still. Overall not a good experience and...
