The Burrito Hut — Restaurant in Southbridge

WARNING: Do not order more than 2 things!

My friend was in from out of town. We get our kids together once in a while to play, we have 2 kids, she has 2 kids. We decided to grab an early dinner (4:30-5:00 ish) and called my favorite local burrito place. In total we had 4 burritos, a bowl, some nachos and a quesadilla, with some desserts.

When we arrived to pick up the food the owner guy YELLED at us because we "ordered too much"! He said he had to "shut the place down" to make our order and that next time we should let him know in ADVANCE if we are going to place such a large order!🤤🤤🤤

Um, HELLO? We had 2 families with 2 children each! If you have to shut down your business to serve 2 families you have bigger problems than MY ORDER.

I happen to think that if someone chooses to spend that much money at your restaurant you should THANK them, not yell at them. My friend wanted to leave and not take the food. We were in shock!

Maybe he was having a bad day, but you should NEVER take your frustrations out on your customers! If he had asked if we could wait or told us on the phone that it would take an hour to make our food that would have been fine... we were not in a hurry.

On a side note, he had run out of guacamole by 5pm on a Saturday and was only able to give us a small order rather than the large we requested😕...????...The hut is in the parking lot of a grocery store... are they out of avocados? We also had tried to order last weekend (just my family) and they were sold out when we called. They seem to have supply issues despite being next to a grocery store.

That said, although my burrito was not made correctly (the stuff I asked for on the side was inside the burrito and I had to fish it out) AND the fact that they put lettuce and salsa ON the kids nachos, the food was good. But the side order of anxiety, anger and embarrassment made a sour taste in my mouth and I won't be going back any time soon. Which is a pity, as I said, we are local and they were...

I went here with a friend tonight. We called in our order at about 5:00 and were told it would be about 35 minutes. We ordered food for 2 families (4 burritos, 2 kids meals, some desserts, drinks) We we went to pick it up we were "greeted" with a guy yelling at us because they can't handle such a "large" order without a lot more notice. They were out of guacamole. At 5:30 on a Saturday night. When their hut is in the parking lot of a grocery store. He continued to snark at us while they got our order ready and generally made my friend and I feel bad for placing such a big order. As though us ordering from him was an inconvenience. As I've told my children sometimes "I think what you meant to say is Thank You!" I was about ready to walk away since my big order seemed to be such a problem. (Keep in mind, this was an order for 2 families - including 2 kids meals -- not a large catering order) The food was good but I will not be back. I'm sorry if you're having trouble managing your supply and demand, or if the stress of running a restaurant is not for you, but it is never the customer's fault. If you needed longer than 35 minutes to prepare the food all you had to do was say so. We were all in a good mood, not in a rush, and your poor treatment of paying customers was...

I have no clue why this place has a near perfect rating...are the owners nice and care about their customers? Yes yes! My roommate ended up getting fries but they forgot to include it in the order...later when they gave him his fries and he went to pay, they said it was ok, it was on the house😀

However, I’m here to talk about the food...are their burritos hefty? Check! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mmmmmmm, bland at best...I got the veggie-rito and I was bummed at how bland the veggies tasted, as if they just boiled them and plopped them in my burrito...they weren’t grilled or prepared with herbs, spices, seasonings etc...I’m not a rabbit, I want my veggies to have some pop to them! Maybe if they were picked fresh from the garden that day it would have sufficed flavor wise, but my guess is that these veggies were store bought...and store bought veggies with no extra tlc equate to bland shite!

Yeah, I was not thrilled...I would much rather go to Chipotle’s any day than come here again...I’m generally not a fan of chains but at least Chipotle’s is consistently bursting...
