This review is regarding my daughter's bridal shower at Fins & Tales on June 8th, 2025. Fins & Tales' staff did everything to make the shower awesome including accommodating food allergies. Everything worked out wonderfully!
The event room looked beautiful with the chosen tablecloth and flowers. I was given a choice of 4 different tablecloth and centerpiece options. Several people asked me where the fresh flowers came from; Angelique, the event coordinator did a lovely job of creating these centerpieces. There were extra tables set up for the shower games and guest sign in book. They have a lovely brick wall which gives a romantic atmosphere to the affair.
There was plenty of room for all the guests and plenty of time for everything that was planned. The staff gave me a heads up when they were bringing out the food so I could give a few words of welcome. The food at the buffet was more than ample - I went up to the buffet after most of the guests and I saw there were a few portions left of one of the brunch dishes. I was going to ask the staff to refill it but before I got back to my table the staff had brought out a fresh tray. We had a breakfast buffet at our hotel that morning and they were constantly running out of food and with no personnel around to restock the platters. What a difference! Everything was delicious- I enjoyed the chicken and salad especially. I don't know why the dressing tasted so good! The guests really enjoyed themselves. It was almost to the end of the shower that I noticed the coffee was low and I mentioned it to our coordinator and she immediately replaced it.
We had such a great time- when things run like clockwork as they did at Fins and Tales on June 8th, it takes pressure off the host so that they can focus on mingling with the guests and other tasks such as running the shower games. As the guests left they told me that they had a great time. We were all very pleased that we chose Fins and Tales...
Read moreMy husband and I just tried this place for dinner tonight after visiting family in Southbridge and had a wonderful meal. It's a little hard to imagine how gorgeous the bar and dining area are from the outside, especially for those who are not used to how New England repurposes its historic buildings, but please proceed inside, you won't be disappointed! The service was friendly and prompt, the menu choices are plenty and the food was delicious. The bar offered a nice assortment of beers on tap, and wines by the glass, as well as a nice offering of house specialty cocktails. We started with New England chowder and a mixed green salad. The chowder was thick, creamy, tasty with plenty of clams. The salad, fresh with some nice surprise. Our entrees included the spaghetti and meatballs, come hungry, the portions are large! The meatballs tasted like they were homemade. The other entree was the Tomato and Mozzarella Pizzetta - FANTASTIC. There was a delicate crunch to the crust and the toppings were perfectly balanced with a simple synergy. We finished with a brownie sundae. Again, the portion was definitely big enough for two to share. It was good, with plenty of whipped cream and ice cream, too, but both my husband and I agreed, the brownie seemed more like cake than a brownie but it was yummy! We will definitely be back,...
Read moreWe chose this restaurant because of the diverse menue. Four adults, all with different food8 likes. The service was fantastic, however...it was like someone lost the salt Shaker in the kitchen for everything that I ordered. I had the baked stuffed shrimp with mashed and broccoli. The presentation was fabulous. EVERYTHING on my plate was SO salty, I ended up taking most home. Everyone else's food was quite salty, but the other couple did not mind. My husband had a lovely piece of haddock with onion rings, also extremely salty. I am on a low salt diet for medical reasons, and expect that when I go out, there is not much that I can control the food in that area. Usually, where ever we go, it is tolerable. I have control at home, and it is not an issue, for an occasional out to eat. However, the sodium added to the food that I ate, was so heavy...I ate only one shrimp, and few bites of potato and one piece of broccoli...that I was so swollen the next day, my weight, which is on the low side, was up nearly 5 pounds...my socks left huge dents above my ankles, and my heart rate and blood pressure were up significantly. I am unsure if this was just a flute night, but because of my particular medical issue, I just can't chance this happening again. This is very sad, because I had hoped that we found our new...
