Firstly, I find it odd that this place has been open for a few years now and only has 112 reviews. I honestly think it’s because the owners are very nice- people probably just don’t WANT to leave a bad review. I’m leaving one because I’m annoyed I spent my hard earned money here, and I’ll explain why.

  1. They don’t cook everything fresh. The “vegetable dumplings” are actually potstickers bought from BJs. Bibigo vegetable organic potstickers. I could tell they were frozen. They were also over cooked and burnt. I begrudgingly ate (most of) them anyway, having not eaten all day and having waited a looong time for them already.

  2. The edamame were undercooked and no seasoning. They could have done with another 1-2 minutes. And salt and garlic.. something… Edamame is not difficult to cook. By now I already did not have much hope for the mains, but was too late to leave as we had pre-ordered the mains with the appetizers.

  3. The fried rice entree was full of oil. Soooo much oil. See the glistening photos. No seasoning either. I don’t think even any salt. The additional $3 charge for shrimp consisted of 2 over-boiled shrimp. Disgusting.

  4. The food took extremely long to come to the table. We were there for almost 2 hours for appetizers and the main. To be served store bought food AND the place being dead (see empty tables)- I find this unacceptable.

  5. The boba isn’t made fresh. Also Bubblegum flavor was advertised as blueberry. For the first time, my kid did not want to drink boba tea.

My Thai curry was pretty good and flavorful, but I asked for Level 3/5 spice and it was more of a 5. Being Asian myself, I’m very accustomed to spicy food so luckily I was fine to eat it. Also was sparse on the shrimp, i counted 5 shrimps. The white rice was nice, but no one eats out for just plain white rice. It was not worth anything near what they charge.

This is the first time EVER that not only I have not enjoyed Thai food, but been repulsed. We sent the oily rice back and had to ask them to remove it from the bill, as they kept it on. I would never come back here nor support businesses who buy in pre-packaged ready-made food to sell on for a premium price.

The lady / owner IS very nice and kind. Unfortunately you need more than a nice personality to be a good cook. Although, if she was not so nice, I would leave a 1 star. I don’t find it right that they are charging people for this... I don’t write this to put them out of business, but for them to up...

"Fresh Thai Flavors" We were on our way to another Thai restaurant in Southington when we passed by Uncle Jack's. What's this place? We turned around and had dinner at Uncle Jack's. We were all happy that we did. Jack and his wife are very nice people. We began with thai ice teas. Very good ice teas with strong flavor of tea. My wife and our friend ordered the curry puffs appetizer. Chicken, curry powder, onion, and potato. Wow, they were good. Curry chicken packed high in light crispy puffs. Delicious ! I had the Shrimp Tom Yum soup. Thai style extra spicy. Shrimp, chilis, galangal, lemongrass, lime juice, onion, and mushrooms. Great flavor, heat, and plenty of shrimp. Our friend had the Tom Kha soup with chicken. Coconut milk, galangal, lime juice, onion, and mushrooms. My wife had the Pineapple Curry with chicken for dinner. Bell pepper, basil, tomato, pineapple, curry sauce, coconut milk, and chicken. She had the tastiest dish of all. Very good. Our friend had the Pad Thai with chicken. Eggs, peanuts, scallion, sprouts, and tofu. I had the Drunken Noodles with beef. Basil, bell pepper, egg, garlic, long hot, onion, bamboo shoot, mushroom, and tomato. Uncle Jack's wife brought over a bottle of their homemade thai chili sauce to crank up the heat. That thai sauce was so delicious, I would put it on everything. Jack is very accomodating with his dishes. He'll add or omit ingredients to your liking. Spicy or not spicy. Whatever you like, Jack is there to please. As full as we were, we still wanted to taste the desserts. My wife had the sticky rice custard. She loved it. My favorite fruit is the mango. So I couldn't resist the mango sticky rice. Mango was sweet, ripe, and as orange as a summer sunset. Excellent dessert. There's no need to try other Thai restaurants in Southington. We stumbled upon the right place and they call the...

Went today for lunch with my husband. Service was great- he asked us if we had thai before, which I had only a few times, and he helped compare to another curry when I wasnt sure what panang curry was- which made me feel comfortable with what is was eating and that he cared about their food in addition to us enjoying the expierence. My husband got the basil fried rice with squid- no spice- which was good- and the squid was cooked really well- not tough/chewy ( I'm currently having dental work and have no teeth- and I was able to eat it) I got the chicken larb and tom yum soup- the soup was flavorful and I loved that the onions were cooked( IMO cooked enough) with still texture and not raw or overcooked mush. The larb was spicy level 4- and it was really great! Good heat to it and super flavorful. The herbs and pops of fresh mint were great. Sometimes I have to add either more fish sauce, chili or add lime - and this was great as is..... its definitely one of those dishes you'll be thinking about in a few days craving. Overall great experience- both owners were attentive and hospitable, and the...

My new favorite Thai food in the entire state! We have eaten here at least 50 times, and we will continue going back. This is one of our favorite BYOB spots, and not just because of the BYOB. I've tried at least 25-30 different Thai restaurants, throughout New York and Connecticut, in my entire life. I've even photographed Thai food menus back when I used to be a commercial stock photographer. So, you could say I'm kind of a Thai foodie / snob / enthusiast! Uncle Jack and his wife Nina never fail to disappoint. Their service is exceptional, the food is delicious and consistent. It would be hard to even have one complaint about their hard work. The parking is a short walk from either the lot in Dean's Stove, the bike trail parking, or the Lion's Den public lot. My favorite dishes here are the curry noodles, the duck noodle soup, and of course, the Drunken noodle. You cannot go wrong with anything else on the menu. The appetizers are also fairly priced, and super tasty.

Loved this place. I wanted something different, more authentic. This completely fit the bill. Small restaurant right on the street. Parking is easy, around the corner is a municipal lot with free parking. It's less than 5 minutes walking from there. Bustling activity in this small area. Really neat place. Food was fantastic! Staff was great. I wish I had this little place near me. I would eat here pretty regular. Good prices, great service. Very low key and welcoming. They do allow you to choose spice level. I eat hot/ spicy food so I ordered a 3 out of 5 and had her bring extra spice. I'm in town for another week and plan on heading back one more time. Definitely worth looking up!
