Hunan Wok — Restaurant in Sparta Township

As good as it gets in Northern NJ. Hands down the tastiest, cleanest and friendliest Chinese take-out. This review is long overdue. I ordered some lunch takeout months ago and it was legit. Ordered takeout dinners over the last couple of weeks and here is my honest opinion. Great staff answering the phones and greeting you. This looks like a second generation family working and running the business. The kitchen is immaculate. I've witnessed them scrubbing down the area at the end of the night. Now down to the food. I will add pictures to show you that I am not lying. They devein the shrimp. Yes!! You know the black line on the back of the shrimp? It's their digestive tract. You don't have to do it but you don't need to eat that. They do they go the extra mile. The food was a perfect ratio of of meat to vegetables. Only construction criticism I have to order is that the fried rice was a little hard. Not sure if that means it was over/undercooked....

I was lucky enough to find this family owned restaurant when my motorcycle broke down! They’re so kind and helped charge my phone so I could contact someone to help get me back home. The owners are some of the most friendly people I’ve ever met, they greated everyone with a smile and created a very welcoming atmosphere. It was great watching all the food being prepared and I was impressed at how fast they got orders out to the customers. I live 30 minutes away but I know I will be back soon, the food I ordered was delicious and I can’t wait...

As far as Chinese food goes, this place is my favorite in the immediate area. Something about the food from here just tastes fresher than some of the other Chinese restaurants in town. It’s not the best I’ve ever had, but it certainly satisfies the “jones” when it hits. Some places crush their dishes with too much sauce and MSG that leaves you feeling disgusting an hour after eating. I've never felt that way with Hunan Wok of Sparta… Then again maybe I have no portion control – but hey, it’s Chinese...
