Sakana Japanese Cuisine — Restaurant in Spotswood

One word. AWFUL. My family and I walked in with high hopes of a great sushi dinner. The hostess who was also the waitress sat us down and took our orders. I simply ordered crispy rice. The waitress began to explain that they don’t have crispy rice. So your telling me you have white rice but can’t throw it in a pan with oil? Then my other family member asked for chicken on a skewer but the waitress began to ramble on about how that wasn’t a menu item. We then showed her it on the menu and she went “oh yea chicken skewer”. We also ordered two chirashi and a sashimi deluxe and a order of the futomaki rolls. The one worker came back three times questioning the futomaki roll. They acted like it wasn’t apart of their menu. When we received it, it lacked majority of the items in the roll that was listed. However, the waitress tried to tell us that only the chirashi came with a salad and the sashimi didn’t. But on the menu it said salad included. 10 minutes go by and one chirashi plate was delivered. 20 mins later the second one was delivered with a different set up of fish. If you were a sushi chef, wouldn’t you make the same dish at the same time? Just a horrible experience. Would never go back. Ps: the hot tea was...

The 1st time I ordered take out from Sakana I was told 20 minutes. It turned out to be 45 instead. The owner gave me a credit, and apologized. We gave them another shot tonight. We ordered at 6:15 and was told 20 min again. Got there at 6:35. Not ready. Waited another 10 minutes and inquired. Was told another 10 min. Mind you, there were only 2 tables occupied. The rest of the restaurant was empty. Finally, at 7:10, almost a full HOUR after we ordered, it was finally ready. I complained to the owner and I was not even offered an apology. He just blankly stared at me. Never again. I don't care how good the sushi is. This establishment doesn't care about...

This is usually my favorite sushi spot but unfortunately service was extremely slow this time. My first order never came out and I had to flag down the server after waiting a long time. He said he forgot to put it in. Several times he never brought back the menu to continue ordering, even though the menu is supposed to be kept at the table. The sushi took a long time to come out each time and the server barely checked on my table. Disappointing but hopefully next time is better as this is one of my favorite...
