A Hidden Gem Worth the Drive, Even If You’re Hours Away!
I first discovered G’s Kitchen completely by accident when Google Maps randomly routed me through the tiny historic town of Sprague, WA from Highway 90. The whole town is maybe five blocks long, with an old western feel and hundreds of antique cars scattered around like a real-life time capsule. It’s one of those places that makes you slow down and smile.
As I was driving through, I spotted G’s bright food truck and literally backed up in the middle of the road to check it out. Best spontaneous decision ever!
G greeted me with the biggest smile and such positive energy, I knew I was in for something special. When I told her I was vegetarian, she said “no problem!” and whipped up a custom fried rice on the spot. About 10 minutes later, she brought out what might honestly be the best fried rice I’ve ever had, perfectly cooked, loaded with fresh veggies, and served with her signature peanut sauce and homemade hot sauce. The flavor blew my mind.
The food was incredible, but G herself is what makes the whole experience unforgettable. She sat and chatted with us like we were old friends. You can taste the love, joy, and good spirit she puts into every dish. Her food is a reflection of her beautiful soul.
Since that first visit, I’ve gone out of my way every weekend I can just to eat at G’s Kitchen. She’s only open on weekends and closes for the winter, but trust me, when she reopens in April, make it a mission to get there. Your taste buds and your soul will thank you.
This is the kind of place that deserves to be on a Food Network show or one of Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Between the amazing food, the warm hospitality, and the classic car scenery, it’s an experience you’ll never forget.
Do yourself a favor, plan a road trip, roll through Sprague, and stop by G’s Kitchen. You’ll leave with a full belly, a happy heart, and a huge...
Read moreGot the empanadas and Asian noodles. Both are completely homemade from scratch and it's definitely shows in the flavor. Honestly an incredible meal. The Asian noodles were savory with a little touch of sweetness, the noodles were a perfect texture, the chicken was very tender, and there were plenty of yummy vegetables. It was a big portion size, as well. The empanadas come in sets of 2 and are stuffed full. They come out SUPER hot and are beefy and cheesy and insanely delicious. G serves them with a salsa that was a perfect compliment. She serves out of a fairly large food-truck style trailer and has a big metal roof covering the trailer and a couple of very nice picnic tables where you can sit and eat. Honestly 10/10 I'll be stopping any time I pass...
Read moreThis is a little gem of a place. We would definitely recommend stopping off here on your way through: G is extremely welcoming, even to our four legged family members. The food was fresh and delicious, full of flavor. It was also very pleasant sitting out the front and for those who want to take a quick wander afterwards, there is a huge collection of old trucks and cars to look at just across the road. We will definitely be back on our way through...
