First timers and I have to be honest, either the owner or manager needs to better train the staff or replace them. Or get a new owner and/or manager. Beautiful place and atmosphere although, we did not feel welcome at all from the very start. Right when we walked through the door it felt like "why are you guys here." We noticed a birthday party going on so we thought the whole place was booked out. No smiles, no thank you for coming or how are you guys doing today, etc... just numbness attitudes.
When we entered, I assumed it was a hostess who greeted us, although she never identified herself by title or name and seated us at a table where everyone from the birthday party had to squeeze by our chairs just to get to the bathrooms. We were literally the only ones in that main area of the restaurant near the Sunday brunch area and this is where she seated us. Seriously? There were literally a dozen or so open tables where we could have sat. Very poor decision by the hostess which resulted in a very uncomfortable experience.
There must have been 5-7 staff members on this floor that we could see. Being that no one else was eating in our area, our beverage glasses ran dry several times, no napkin replacements since we ordered a pail of wings, no mention of "would anyone like anything else? or how's the food? is everything the way you expected"... no... nothing.
Although the food was promptly executed, our prime rib was way overcooked to the point it was dry... sorry chef, and when they brought us a new serving which should have been medium rare... it looked like it wasn't even cooked at all. Extremely rare to the point we didn't eat it because it needed more time to cook. Very risky eating something like that. Consequences of challenging a chef's cooking skills I guess.
The wings were crispy, per request, although needed salt and pepper. Some of the sauces lacked any kind of real flavor as well. My prime rib was over cooked and lacked any seasoning other than the blue cheese topping which I liked. Simple salt & pepper works wonders on meat. I personally didn't complain to our waitress because I felt like we were inconveniencing her by even being there.
In closing, I know we all have our off days and I truly believe in giving restaurants a couple of chances to earn our business. Perhaps next time will have a better experience if we decide to go back. Maybe the outside Beach Bar will be a better...
Read moreNot a family restaurant. Arriving at the restaurant we were told we have an hour wait. While we waited over an hour there were several groups of tables near the "sand" area, they placed us the farthest away from the kids sand area, knowing we had over 7 children. We sat down in the far away area happy that we had a table. A waiter came to our table and told us he could get us just water because they are still figuring out who is going to be our waitress. We asked him why we weren't sat near the tables that are in view of the sand area where there was several of tables that would accommodate us; because they knew we had children. His response was this makes no sense. So he went and moved us to a table that had a waitress (because again the previous table they sat us at had no waitress assigned to that table and they were still trying to "figure that out") and was closer to the sand area. By the time we got a table it was well passed 9:30. Our amazing waitress that we were now finally given told us, we usually ask for kids to leave by 10, but we aren't even ordering till after 9:30 it will be not a problem. So we ordered our food. We had three meals sent back because they were not made correctly. We did not get our check till well after 10:30 at night. As we were playing the manager sent out a security guard to tell us to leave. We try to explain our entire night how the delay had nothing to do with us and she was very rude. We asked for her the send the manager over and again he couldn't recognize Beverly Hill's fault in their delayed seating (when there was several areas available to be seated), their lack of accommodating a waiter to a table that they assign, and also their lack of their kitchen's ability to produce food of quality and what the customer ordered. Lastly, when the manager came over he acted as if our service was unappreciated and did not care if else would ever come to this restaurant again. This is not a family or large group restaurant and I would not recommend anyone to ever "wait" for a table. Especially after waiting over an hour and you finally get seated and they tell you that they don't even have a waiter for you but they can get you water until they...
Read moreMy experience was a mixed bag. The drink specials were good and the food was decent. I also liked the outdoor seating and bar area. The waitress at the start was also attentive and nice. If that was all this review would have been a 4-5/5. Unfortunately as the day started to end and our group wanted to leave, we asked for the checks...and that was when it went all downhill. There was miscommunication and the waitress unfortunately did not do seperate checks so we had to go through every single thing ordered in our 10+ group. I did feel sorry initially for the waitress since she had to review our seperate orders but once she left, it took an additional !!!45 minutes!!! to come back with our checks. All the while, we were waiting at the outside table and the day was getting darker and colder outside. Not only that we could see the waitress helping her other tables and giving them their checks and finishing up with them first. The only reason I could see was that our group was 10+ while the other tables had 2-4 customers. Still the fact that they called and got their checks before us and were able to pay and leave while we continued to wait was not right. It got to the point where one of the people in my group called the tavern number to speak to the manager about how unsatisfied we were waiting for so long for a check to go home. He was quick to come to our table and initially seemed apologetic and trying to unruffle feathers however he then became abrupt and stating "oh you're going to pay before leaving." By that point the waitress came back with the checks and we ultimately just paid to be done with it. The waitress did apologize for how things went stating that it took her awhile to seperate our checks (either way i think 45 minutes is a little overkill). It was the manger, Bart, however that just left a bad taste in my mouth. Not once did he apologize for what happened and once the waitress arrived with the checks he left soon after. I was very disappointed with how this visit went and do not think I will be...
