I am an Uber Eats as a 1099 worker. I had a delivery scheduled ready for pick up at this Wawa’s location. I walk in and the order isn’t on the pick up shelf for “dashers”, so I wait about 3-5 minutes to ask where I could pick up the order. No biggie, I deliver from multiple Wawa’s and most of their own way of handling orders. When I asked about the order a heavier associate and assumed slim manager (judging by him having a different shirt/stationing in a little panel room behind the food station) looked over to respond. The associate directed me to the checkout counter. It was hard to hear him fully so I asked again, to which I heard the same response. There is an open space between the outside area of the counter and inside, I stood in between the space to peek through to see the order. Note, I never picked up any of the three bags on the counter top.
The bigger associate then yelled I couldn’t go behind the register, in which I was still in the cross-space. He then proceeded to yell some rude words which I don’t remember verbatim. I am a non confrontation person, but he clearly stepped over the line so I respond in a loud tone “How am I supposed to know that if you didn’t specifically say that?”. I promise I would’ve apologized if he would’ve corrected me in a respectful manner. He proceeds to say he didn’t say to go in the cross space but again, he gave me very vague instructions. The (assumed) manager then chimes in and backs his guy up saying that isn’t allowed in a high tone. You would think as a manager he would have some knowledge on de-escalation but he does the opposite. In frustration he tells me I would “I would be arrested for stealing” if I did it again, then walks outside. In which I respond “go ahead”.
So many things wrong here. I introduced myself prior to him as an Uber pick up driver. I have a 100% customer satisfaction rating, and never had a problem with orders going missing. They don’t know that I get it. But to go to such an extreme from frustration displays such a lack of professionalism. I have never had anything like this happen, and definitely didn’t suspect an interaction like this at a Wawa of all places, but here we are. The one positive I give from this experience is a cashier approached myself in a normal tone and asked what was the order. In which I responded in a calm tone, she eventually...
Read moreI’ve lived in the area for 7 years. This location is our home Wawa. The husband and I, loved it up until recently. The old crew they had, was on point with everything. It was warm and welcoming, we are regulars so we were always being greeted, all the employees seemed happy, food was always great, rarely messed up orders and everything was fast paced. I guess staff had been rotating lately because every time we go in now it’s a different crew and we would go almost every day. We don’t recognize anyone. The manager always looks miserable. Our orders are constantly being messed up and the quality of the food has gone downhill. It’s like they don’t care anymore and it’s so sad to see what this Wawa has become. Now we dread this Wawa. And this one short lady on the heavier side who is the cashier, the woman is a mess. She’s constantly messing up on things and doesn’t pay attention to what she is doing. The one time I was in there, she was just chatting it up with the customers not caring there was a long line and I was up next so when she rang up my items, my total came to about $60 and I was confused because all I got was a coffee and a pretzel and I believe smoothies for my girls and when I looked down, I noticed she never completed the transaction of the customers before me because I saw Hershey bars and other items that belonged to them and I told the cashier that wasn’t right. When she looked at her screen, she realized she messed up and I’m pretty sure the customers before me didn’t technically pay for their order because the cashier was too distracted so walked out with free items. The cashier had to suspend the transaction and rescan my items again to charge me correctly which came to $20 something. Smh. All that mess if she would’ve just paid attention. Whichever Wawa now that has the old crew from here, I’m jealous, they must be thriving and making their community happy....
Read moreMy wife's worked there for 3 years very loyal to them. After 3 years she got pregnant and while out because of difficulties with the pregnancy she was fired. The manager who didn't know how to do his job for the beggining said he fired her so she could collect unemployment. Well that was a lie wawa denied her unemployment because they said she quit. We have papers saying she was terminated tho. Worst place ever and the managers have no idea how to run their store. A lawsuit is in the process for discrimination good luck...
