Hikari Sushi & Teppanyaki — Restaurant in Spring Valley

My family and I love this place! We went here for my brother's birthday and Hikari Sushi made it very special. I had to change my reservation twice, and I was expecting them to be annoyed or to cancel us out, but no, they happily worked with me. I am so thankful.

My whole family got all you can eat, and man, we really ate that night. I would recommend getting all you can eat if you are planning on ordering 2+ plates of food. Whether it is appetizers or sushi rolls. It's a better deal!

The food was pretty good! There were some things better than others but we had so many options to get something else so I can't really complain. We all ate so so much AND the food came out FAST. There were about 8 of us and finished eating within an hour and a half. On top of the fact that there were 8 of us, two of us had a food allergy, and they were very understanding and were very careful. So that was also a big one.

The service was 10/10. I really wish I got our waitresses' name, who mainly worked with us, because she was great! She was so patient and kind. I'm thinking about it now, all of the servers helped us in some way, and they were all just great.

The environment was very nice, and had Island music playing so it was a whole vibe. They had a bar and a separate room for the Hibachi. We didn't do the Hibachi but if you are planning on it, call ahead and make a reservation.

I dont think they normally celebrate birthdays, but after telling them why we were there towards the end of dinner, they brought over a plate with ice cream and whipped cream and "happy birthday" written in chocolate sauce on the plate and they sang happy birthday with us with a smile and cheered for my brother 🥲 I cannot emphasize how great our experience was. We were all very happy. My family truly enjoyed this place. That night will always be remembered as "Mike's birthday at the great sushi place" to our family. The food I ordered was pretty good and it was ready when I arrived. The reason I am giving them a 2 star is because they were rude to me when they messed up my order causing me to not get items I paid for. When I called to inquire they made me wait until they checked the camera and didn't call me back. I then figured out what went wrong and nobody apologized nor rectified the situation because it was their fault. I am new to this neighborhood and have never been treated as such. The teppanyaki comes with rice, salad, onion soup, chicken, and steak. Why on earth would you add lettuce wraps to the teppanyaki box instead of it's own box? I ordered for myself and a friend and I took their food to them. I called her to ask if my wraps were INSIDE of HER BOX and she confirmed they were and she ate them thinking it came with her teppanyaki box. Just like her, how was I to know MY lettuce wraps were inside her box? They shouldn't have been, they could share a bag for sure, but how smart was it to add the wraps to the teppanyaki box. I was hoping to make this my new favorite place near my house, but the treatment I recoeved and the reviews of such long wait times due to personal conversations, I will make this my first and last time visiting. I am very appalled. I had been moving all day and this was my first meal of the day at the end of the night and this was what I received as treatment when I spent my hard earned money there to eat. Not to mention the server with no accent was extremely rude, loud talking, and over talking me, insinuating that I was not being honest about my missing lettuce wraps. Very disappointed. I would say you can't do bad business like that, but obviously you can because you are AND...

Me and my sister walk in . Stood there for 15 minutes with no “ hi how are you” or “how can I help you” or “for how many”, you know just the typical restaurant customer service etiquette . No one was waiting with us, we are the only ones waiting for 15 minutes . It was awkward and weird just standing there with literally NO ONE to help us lol . We eventually had to walk in the middle of this very small restaurant to get some one attention to let them know we were waiting that long . We didn’t know if we were allowed to even eat there !!! Lol!!! Then we sit down at our table - one of the sushi chefs looks at me, glares at me, shakes his head no and gives me another dirty look .... I don’t know why - I was so so so nice and so excited to try this place !

I found this place on Instagram and it looked sooo good on ig however The sushi was OK . Some of the sushi options had different names but the same exact combination of things inside them . Also the sushi looked nothing like it did on IG . Our server was nice and I think she was the only server working so we felt bad about that but ... we thought maybe because my sister is black and I’m gay that they might have not liked us or something . It was just so weird and strange to stand up there for so long with literally NO GREETING at all then we sit down and the sushi guy kept staring at me and giving me dirty looks !

Idk this place just gave me super weird vibes - I guess I’m just used to the other sushi places that are so happy and excited for us to eat there and great us with “ Hi how are you tonight ? How many for your table ?” I won’t be going back here unfortunately 😪🥺 and definitely wont be following their catfish Instagram...
