Got a kitten from them 3 weeks ago that was in the care of PetSmart. I’m beyond frustrated that I received a very sick kitten that is now at my expense. So far she’s had a URI, conjunctivitis twice, AND Giardia (which puts me at risk of getting it as well). I’d think twice about getting an animal from them as it’s very clear they absolutely neglected their responsibility.
When I received her, I was given her records where it was noted she had watery eyes from the vet. That was 2 weeks prior to her adoption. Why wasn’t there a follow up to this? You just passed her over to PetSmart where she was kept with the rest of her litter.
I noticed she had a watery eye and brought it up to the PetSmart employee who told me it was likely nothing because SPCA took her to the doctors before. So I didn’t think anything of it and adopted her that evening. The next morning after her adoption (10 hours later), her eye was swollen shut and she was coughing and sneezing relentlessly.
Since then it’s been one medical issue after the other.
So far, I’ve racked up almost $300 in vet bills caring for her. All while my other cat is at risk.. and now me!!
Please stay away! Or at least, aggressively ask questions before adopting to make sure your future pet has been taken care of...
Read moreAfter losing our sweet Chloe girl (who we got 12 years ago from the SPCA in KC), I have been having a hard time. Even though it hurts to lose them when their time comes, I could never regret having gotten Chloe. She was irreplaceably supportive and loving. I decided something good had to come from her death. We went to the Clark County SPCA to look at the doggies in need of a good home. The pics of the dogs on Petfinder do not do those babies justice! Once we were in person, I wanted to take them all home and start a doggie refuge...once I came to my senses, the staff was really great about answering questions I had about various pups, and we fell in love with Skye. We renamed her Shelby. She has been through a lot, but they got her all fixed up and adoptable. She was $230, but that was a steal considering how much help she needed when she was rescued. She also came with an ID chip, spayed, and up on her shots. We also get a coupon book from Petco, a free vet exam, and a bag of donated goodies, so they make it super easy to start off right with your new fur-baby! Highly recommended...
Read moreWe adopted a dog from here about 2 months ago, it was a very nice experience. The shelter was organized and clean, the staff was friendly and very honest about the dogs and the situations that each individual one came from and any vices or issues they noticed about each. I want people to understand that diseases such as parvo or distemper are not biased as to where an animal is kept or living for the animal to get sick. I had a pup get parvo in the air through my privacy fence from a raccoon in the neighbors yard. Parvo is not a disease that requires euthanasia it can be treated. They only euthanize at the request of someone who cannot afford to have them treated. It can be treated and I've seen this particular shelter save many animals from this and other horrific diseases. Please if you are going to adopt, these people go above and beyond with the care they give to the animals as well as...
