EDIT: In response to the reply - and I commend you for replying. The "bacon that was enjoyed by my companion" was NOT in fact enjoyed by my companion. That was the bacon that I had ordered. Your server failed to correctly add it to my ticket and erroneously added it to my companions ticket. So don't come at me with "she got free bacon" nonsense. You're in the wrong here. You could have just apologized and moved on. You chose to be a non-customer-service focused establishment. By the way, I'm telling literally everyone that will listen about my experience, I guarantee you I've cost your little restaurant 10 times the revenue you saved by not simply issuing a refund. I'd like to start off this review with the positives, so... the server was pretty friendly?
Now to the rest. The food was fairly mediocre - my bacon was good. The sort of generally overpriced brunch food you'd expect. Most of it was fine. Nothing to write home about. Of the 4 of us at the table, mine was about 7 minutes behind the rest - food should arrive at the same time. But it was okay.
One of my friends got the biscuits and gravy and insisted that the rest of us try it. Their recipe uses what can best be described as Italian sausage. It was reminiscent of eating a pizza in gravy form. But it was also very oily/greasy. I took one bite and immediately regretted it. My friend asked the server to remove it from the bill as it was inedible, but the server did not. When we went up to pay, the manager refused to remove it from the bill because "no one else has complained today."
Okay, so 1) most people don't complain or comment about food. They just eat it or not and then tell their friends. A customer complaint about food quality should be taken seriously by management and back of house staff as an opportunity for improvement. 2) If a customer asks for a comped $6 item on a $100 bill... you do it. It's customer service. We clearly did not and could not eat the dish. We didn't ask for anything else to be removed. We didn't argue, we didn't take it out on the server. The manager here had an opportunity to say "I'm sorry you were unhappy with the dish, let me remove that from your bill." Instead, she chose a different approach.
In doing so, this manager took our experience from "eh it was okay" to "we will never go back and also I'll be damned sure I'll cost this business at least $6 in negative reviews." I'm good with a computer and I have ample free time - and today I'm going to use those to the great dismay of this restaurant. A plague on Harvest Kitchen. May they be out of business...
Read moreOur meal was spot on delicious! Perfect "PORTIONS" & our waitress Jade was very polite, had suggestions & did a GREAT job for us. My wife had the chicken bacon avocado sandwich & I had breakfast. My egg omelet was 3+ eggs & stuffed with my favorite goodies. A small dish of perfectly cooked hash browns. (shouldn't be eating 14 potatoes anyway.) YES! 1 slice of toast! That's 30g of carbs people! PLENTY! Jade recommended trying the hot salsa which was delicious. My wife's sandwich was a beautifully cooked pounded out grilled breast with bacon, avocado on a huge slice of sourdough bread. AGAIN. DELICIOUS! The ranch dressing was house made, delicious. The front girl was kind, offering us a to-go menu to plan for our next visit. Recommend the Mahi Mahi. Can't wait! Overall AMAZING! I'm more torked at the unfair, unpleasant & out right hateful reviews. This is a locally owned restaurant trying hard to survive the chaotic climate we all live in. If you disliked your meal, by all means, let them know. Then they can improve. But to be hateful, vindictive & rude. Airing your trashy opinions? Leave those out. I might be older but I am full of wisdom. I understand these reviews hurt a business & are read by 1,000's+. Use the mirror to look over yourself & your demeanor. Comments like: 1. "Go to Bob Evans?" Rude. 2. The "portions?" Use portion control! 3. "Bacon was cold?" Ask to warm. Are you 3? 4. "The person was taking a cigarette break outside?" OMG! Call the Pentagon! It's called a break. We don't need to hear that in the review? 5. "Where's the drink selections?" Easy killer! Maybe less of that for you. It's a review, not a character assassination. THEY JUST OPENED!!!!!! These are human beings trying to make a living. Be humble, have humility & care for others. Not trash them? Harvest Kitchen has gotten off to a rough & unfair review barrage. When reading them, I felt like putting on a bullet proof vest? I hope a few will see this & give them a chance. And no. I was not paid for this. Just a simple CHRIST follower reading HIS WORD & reviewing my actions, thoughts & most of all, my words. Westside Church recent series "Words Count". Look it up online & listen to it & apply it to your heart. Good luck Harvest Kitchen! We'll be back!!! Upon leaving, our son text to bring him home something. He's the finickiest eater on planet earth. We got him the Bacon Cheeseburger, plain & dry with fries to go. To top this honest review. He said it was a great burger! You go Harvest Kitchen!...
Read moreLet's talk about the restaurant that took over the building where Sweet Basil was. Tonight was our first time trying Harvest Bar & Grill. Upon arriving, we questioned if they were even open due to there being barely any cars in the parking lot. We saw a waitress come outside to sneak a couple puffs of her cigarette, which she quickly put out after seeing us get out of the car. Once inside, we were impressed with the new decor and ambiance. We were quickly seating - noting only one other family that was there. Our server, Lorena, quickly greeted us with a smile and offered to get our drinks. We were a bit disappointed to find that there were no cocktail specials or recommended mixed drinks. We love trying the different mixed drinks when we go out. They lost points since there was no drink menu. The dinner menu was much smaller than expected, with an obvious attempt at more sophisticated, modern-style entrées. We ordered the southwest egg rolls as an appetizer, which lovely Lorena advised there were no black beans...and asked if they could substitute them (the black beans) for a different protein. We're always down to try something new so we agreed. The kitchen chose bacon and exactly 2 small pieces of mushroom in each egg roll. No complaints here, it was still very delicious. For our entrees, I ordered the Mahi Mahi which I would give a 10/10. He ordered the surf n turf, which did not come out as good. His steak was not cooked evenly, was mostly fat and had little to no flavor. He did not end up eating the steak, and decided it was too small of a cut to even bother to send back. I think this is a great spot for date nights, but not somewhere I would take the kids for a family meal. You should definitely give it a try- they could use the business. Over all - I would give...
