We were excited to eat here based on the reviews, but as soon as we opened the door, instead of the fragrance of delicious food, we were met with the asphyxiating odor of toxic chemical cleaners. I understand that food service establishments need to clean, but it literally smelled like someone had dumped a 55 gallon drum of artificially-fragranced Clorox over every surface. I immediately lost my appetite and couldn't even eat the food we ordered.
But now we come to the food... and the "service." 🙄 The employee behind the counter got THREE of our five orders incorrect. We ordered two orders of the "taquitos in a cup," which according to the menu included guacamole. They came out on a tray, not in a cup, and with no guac. When we brought it to her attention, the employee just stared blankly. I asked if she could provide the missing guac and she replied, "we're out of guacamole." I replied, "Ok, then will you provide a refund for the product we paid for, but did not receive?" She said, "We don't offer discounts when we're out of something." I could hardly believe my ears. "Then you should have told me BEFORE I ordered, or listed it on the menu, so I could choose to purchase something you actually have in stock." She still just stared.
Then I informed her of the other incorrect order: we ordered the huaracha with carnitas and it came out with steak. She rudely contradicted me and told me I ordered steak! (We dislike steak and never order it at any restaurant, so we absolutely did NOT order steak.) At this point, I wasn't getting anywhere with her, so my husband attempted to explain that charging for a product and then not providing said product AS DESCRIBED is theft. She begrudgingly credited us a measly $1 for each of the incorrect taquito orders and sent out the huaracha with carnitas, as I originally ordered. But by that time, most of my party was finished eating and I had completely lost my appetite from the stench of the place, so I just took my food to go.
I feel bad for the restaurant owners, as the food was quite tasty, but due to this employee's belligerent, "not-my-problem" attitude and the unnecessarily heavy-handed use of toxic "cleaning" chemicals, we will never set foot in this place again, and will tell everyone we know...
Read morecoming from California and Mexico this is the only place we eat in Springfield and we tried everything and anything mexican in the last 2 years. everything else pals in comparison to authentic except for the Mexican grocery on glenstone with a restaurant inside that place is just as good.. I love tacos.. IMO they don't get the credit they deserve. my giant company orders them on a regular for employees which is how I found them. now we come here weekly.. the only thing I didn't like was the taquitos. they might be the worst I've ever had and I hate to say that but you should remove from the menu because everything else is bombastic! red salsa is hot. green is mild both are drinkable. sometimes they close early on a holiday or something. the inside here is very clean but small. usually empty plenty of room.. The tacos and burritos are my fav. super affordable burritos.. street tacos can be pricey because I want to eat a dozen but they are so so sooooo good... my go to carba asada steak burrito .. id die if they closed or moved !! anyone saying the food isn't good has a serious...
Read moreWell....did not "love" this "restaurant." Upon entering, there was a funny odor permeating throughout (disinfectant? Air freshener? Weird). Wanted Diet soda but none available (and no refills either, just cans). Ordered 2 tacos with a side of rice. Could not believe there were no chips offered??!! What a rip off for $8 plus tax...could have gotten a full lunch meal at several other Mexican places for $6-8 with chips. Tacos were maybe 3 bites of food. Miniscule. And the rice was not freshly made and was partially cold from sitting out. Atmosphere felt like I was in an empty garage eating. Just weird. Left still hungry. "First and last"......
Where is the guacamole, queso, hard tacos, fajitas, etc? This is NOT...
