So as I was waiting for my order to be completed, I witnessed the kindest gesture that anyone can make. As I placed my order a woman in need walked in and whispered something to the manager, he then disappeared as she stood there patiently. After a few minutes, he returned with a to-go plate for her. From the conversation I could tell this was not the first time. Most local businesses do not have big overhead to cover free stuff like corporate businesses. I wrote this before I even tried the food, for what I witnessed I recommend this restaurant 100 times over!!!!
Now on to the food....
In the picture there is six tacos, menudo, and a side of beans and rice. Let me begin with the sides, fluffy rice and the beans fresh from the day! The menudo has a perfect balance of heat, meat, and oregano. The only downside to it is that I am used to having hominy in it this one did not. Now the tacos, each one was the different meat choices. Every single meat has its distinct flavors and stands alone. They gave me red salsa and habanero and I don't know how many more times I can say AMAZING!!!!!! Come and enjoy...
Read moreI was a little confused thinking I was walking into a taco shop, but it was actually a sit down restaurant. I was served fresh chips and house made salsa. They salsa tasted amazing like nothing out of a jar and I can even tell the garlic and other ingredients apart. I ordered a carnitas plate, it was a special on the menu. I received crispy tender juicy bits of roasted pork along with perfect refried beans topped with cheese that had melted rice, chop cilantro and onions. The tortillas were so hot within a holder that I nearly couldn't even stand them in my hand. I test hot things including asphalt for a living so these tortillas were hot. I made a number of tacos out of all the ingredients along with some other salsa that I drizzled on top. This place is like going to your grandmother's house so she was 100% Mexican and had cooked from the time she was a little girl until...
Read moreUpdating my review - This place used to have best carne asada I've found anywhere in town.
We used to eat at Naya's at least once per week but started to notice that the flavorful food we had grown accustomed to was severely lacking flavor.
We took a break for more than 6 months and recently decided to give them another shot. I don't know what has happened, but their carne asada consistently has little to no flavor and is no longer worth what they're charging for it.
I know a lot of places are trying to save money cutting back on ingredients, but I'd rather pay an extra $0.50/taco and get the full flavor I'm used to.
They're always super friendly there. I'll probably give them another try at some point in the future but, for now, I've gotta stick with...
